Elela-Care Humanitarian and Development Organization (ECM) is a youth-led, non-governmental organization dully registered with Nigerian government through Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC/IT NO: 182167). Existing since June 2022, ECM focuses on improving the quality of life of vulnerable population across communities in North East Nigeria. ECM operates both in emergency and developmental context and have its programme principally rooted in identifying gaps that affects population or increases vulnerability of population and bridging those gaps through resource base planning and implementation.

Job Summary

The IT and Communications Intern will support the organization’s visibility and digital engagement through creative content development and strategic social media management. The intern will assist in designing graphics, managing social media platforms, and producing visual content that amplifies the organization’s impact, programs, and campaigns. They will also contribute to maintaining digital assets, ensuring consistent branding, and supporting basic IT and communication tasks as needed.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Design engaging visual content (flyers, banners, infographics, social cards, etc.) for social media, reports, campaigns, and events in line with the organization’s branding guidelines.
  • Manage and update the organization’s social media platforms (Facebook, X/Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn, etc.) with timely, relevant, and compelling content.
  • Support the development of digital campaigns to promote programs, events, and awareness initiatives.
  • Assist in capturing and editing photos and short videos during field activities or events for storytelling and documentation purposes.
  • Monitor social media engagement and generate insights on performance (reach, likes, shares, audience growth, etc.).
  • Maintain an organized archive of digital content, including photos, videos, and graphic files.
  • Ensure the consistent use of logos, fonts, and color schemes across all digital and print materials.
  • Provide basic IT support where necessary (e.g., setting up virtual meetings, troubleshooting simple issues, updating digital tools).
  • Collaborate with program teams to understand communication needs and translate them into digital content.
  • Perform any other duties related to IT, communication, or visibility as assigned by the supervisor.

Position Requirements

  • A Diploma/Bachelor’s degree (or currently enrolled in final year) in Mass Communication, IT, Digital Media, Graphic Design, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated experience or strong interest in social media management, graphic design, or digital storytelling.
  • Proficiency in design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, cap-cut, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, X/Twitter, LinkedIn) and content scheduling tools.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with an eye for detail and visual aesthetics.
  • Basic photography and video editing skills are an added advantage.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills; ability to multitask and meet deadlines.
  • High level of creativity, initiative, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and basic troubleshooting.
  • Understanding of branding, advocacy messaging, and community engagement through digital channels.
  • Commitment to the mission, values, and communication standards of ECM.
