Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) is Nigeria’s leading private sector think-tank dedicated to achieving sustainable economic development through private sector-led initiatives. Convener of the annual Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) since 1993, as a platform for bringing together private sector leaders and senior public sector officials to discuss and dialogue on the future of the Nigerian economy.

In 1993, a group of passionate and concerned private sector leaders representing key economic sectors conceived the Nigerian Economic Summit (NES) and sustained it as a platform for bringing together private sector leaders and senior public sector officials to discuss and dialogue on the future of the Nigerian Economy. Three years later, in 1996, the Nigerian Economic Summit Group (NESG) was established and incorporated as a non-profit, non-partisan private sector organisation with a mandate to promote and champion the reform of the Nigerian economy into an open, private sector-led globally competitive economy.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Senior Economist / Public-Private Dialogue / Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning Team Lead

Location: Lagos

About the Job

  • Coordinate and Manage the output of other Team Members in the PC&PPD Operations Support Unit(for platforms under purview);
  • Ensures that the key issues of Policy Commission proceedings are captured;
  • Conducts Policy Commission Plans, Programmes and Project Monitoring;
  • Supports the Policy Commission Leadership as Facilitating Secretariat Liaison
  • Provides administrative support – this includes the planning, delivery and follow-up of all PC meetings and events (e.g. logistics, agenda, materials, and minutes);
  • Provides facilitation of communication between PC Leadership – this means keeping the dialogue moving forward, resolving sensitive issues, strategically engaging Champions, Facilitator and Thematic Leads, ensuring members deliver on commitments between formal meetings;
  • Provides Information generation and sharing – this refers to the management of relevant issues, programmes and activities;
  • Provides Analytic Support – this is the provision of descriptive and analytic information on current situations by analysing options, comparisons and assessments;
  • Provide advocacy facilitation – supporting the PC Leadership to reach out to senior government decision-makers through NESG Government Facing Units;
  • Provides Outreach facilitation – this is about keeping PC members informed of the work and progress, drafting PC reports for external audiences and bring PC’s work to the attention of the media through the NESG Communications Unit; at the organisational level, the MEL will focus on monitoring the performance of all organisational expressions of the NESG
  • Develop and support the design and implementation of continuous and / or end-of-project evaluations, surveys and other components of the monitoring and evaluation system.
  • Evaluate the quality of outputs, outcomes and impact delivered by PPD Platforms and work with the Policy Commission Management and Support unit to ensure improved efficiency.
  • Ensure that all Outputs – Policy Briefs, Session Reports, Technical Notes, White Papers etc., of PPD platforms meet the highest standards.
  • Ensure the Monitoring and Evaluation of the implementation of the Work Plan of Policy Commissions/Communities of Practice
  • Produce high quality and timely MEL reports for programmes, including documentation of successes, data analysis for indicator aggregation and reporting, summary of qualitative results, etc.
  • Develop annual performance plans and annual MEL plans and conducts Monitoring and Evaluation of the Performance of Policy Commissions, Roundtables, Communities of Practice against set objectives in their workplans and strategic agendas;
  • Conducts Annual Performance Evaluation of Compliance to the Global PPD Principles and Good Practices and ensures effective Risk Management plans, strategies, interventions and measures to mitigate or eliminate PPD risks and threats
  • Co-Facilitate the Gender Community of Practice.
  • Perform any other role as assigned.
