HEALTH CARE DEVELOPMENT FOCUS INITIATIVE (HECADF)

Consultancy Service: Training on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Gender Based Violence (GBV), & WASH.
HECADF invites Expression of Interest (EOI) from interested consultants, with the experience and skills in the above subject. The EOI must include:

  1. A CV from the consultant.
  2. A page document outlining similar previous consultancies (along with an explanation of the purpose of the consultancy, who the contracting authority was)

    Terms of Reference:
    Project Title: “Live saving protection (GBV), SRHR & WASH assistance to crises affected women, men, boys & girls in Borno state, Nigeria”.
    Location: Dikwa & Bama
    Duration: Two (2) Days
    Training to be conducted in June 2021
    OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
    The primary objective of the assignment is to prepare and deliver a 2-day remote Training for HECADF/CARE community volunteers on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights (SRHR), Gender Based Violence (GBV), & WASH. The objectives of the training are as follows:
  3. Build the capacity of the community volunteers to incorporate standards and essential information on SRHR in their daily awareness, sensitization and dialogue sessions.
  4. Increase the knowledge of community volunteers on sexual and reproductive health and its links to Gender-Based Violence
  5. Build the capacities of community volunteers on how to deliver messages and basic information to target groups in the host communities and IDP CAMPS on SRHR, GBV, WASH and increase access to information and linkages to services through referrals.
    Main Topics to Cover in the trainings:
  6. Sexual and reproductive health rights, and Menstrual Hygiene Management (Female reproductive system, menstrual cycle, family planning, maternal health and rights, access to contraceptive methods, STIs…)
  7. How to create awareness on anti-natal care & post-natal care and their Importance.
  8. COVID-19 sign and symptoms, ways of contracting the disease, preventive measures.
  9. Gender-based violence, discrimination, and stigma from a public health lens.
  10. Mapping existing SRHR services/ mobile clinics in the community and make referrals to specialized health facilities.
    At the end of the training, the volunteers will be able to:
    • Understand and increase knowledge on key concepts related to GBV and SRHR.
    • Provide basic and accurate information in the field, address misconceptions and answer questions from the community during sessions and/or redirect individuals to SRHR services.
    • Help link survivors of GBV to available safe spaces.
    MAIN DELIVERABLES:
    Based on the above expectations the consultant is expected to provide the following deliverables:
    • Pre and post-test assessment to determine the level of knowledge among HECADF volunteers (including data collection tools and short report)
    • Training material (including training modules, handouts, presentation, and agenda)
    • Monitoring tools (evaluation form) on the overall training exercise (training methodology, venue, refreshment) and final evaluation report (including learning outcomes)
    • Training Report
    • Attendance sheets
    TIMEFRAME, KEY ACTIVITIES AND EXPECTED LEVEL OF EFFORT:
    Timeframe: The entire process is to be completed with the submission of the final report & other deliverables (stated above) by the consultant within a period of three (3) days after the training. The exact dates of the training is to be communicated in due course immediately after selection.
    CONSULTANT QUALIFICATIONS/ SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND KNOWLEDGE:
    Essentials:
  11. Degree in public health, social science, or related essential field.
  12. Strong technical knowledge and experience with designing GBV and SRHR training material and modules.
  13. Excellent knowledge of GBV, SRHR, & WASH experience in working with different stakeholders including NGO staff and displaced communities.
  14. Experience in capacity building including (designing and delivering different training methods, modules and excellent facilitation skills).
  15. Good interpersonal and communication skills.
  16. Excellent written and spoken English, while Hausa and Kanuri is mandatory.
