Achieving Health Nigeria Initiative (AHNi) is an indigenous non-governmental organization that promotes socio-economic development by supporting a broad range of global health programs, education, research, and livelihoods initiatives in Nigeria. In anticipation of a potential award from USAID on the Accelerating Control of the HIV Epidemic in Nigeria (ACE) with focus on the BAY (Borno, Adamawa, Yobe) states, the following positions are open for consideration to all qualified candidates. AHNi currently has its headquarters in Abuja, Nigeria.

Accountant: is responsible for accounting in the Head and State Offices, ensuring compliance with the contractual financial requirements of the project. S/he will assist the Finance Manager to ensure the accurate keeping of all books of account for the project, including checking account, equipment and supply registers and all accounting records. Work with the Senior Program Officer to lead the preparation of monthly and annual financial reports, including financial status of sub-project account activities with accompanying bank documentation and receipts. Assist the Senior Program Officer and Finance Manager in monitoring sub-project budgets in accordance with approved work plan activities..

Minimum Recruitment Standards

  • BS/BA degree in Accounting, Finance and Business Administration or its recognized equivalent, and 4 to 6 years relevant experience • Or MS/MA degree in Accounting, Finance and Business Administration or its recognized equivalent, and 3 to 5 years relevant experience. 
  • Minimum of 2-3 years’ experience in accounting relating to development programs
  • Familiarity with Donor-funded programs and non-governmental organizations in Nigeria is an advantage • CPA, ACA, or recognized equivalent is an advantage.
