Global Promoters for Community Initiatives (GPCI) is a non-political and non-profitable organization established in 2014 to respond to current need of people in order to sustain, strengthen and promote qualitative health, good governance initiatives and empowerment. Our mission is to improve the quality of life of the people in rural Communities across Africa. We are committed to address community developmental issues, working in partnership with other Organizations to build sustainable, healthy and productive communities. GPCI is a goal-oriented Organization that is working to improve the health and reduce the human disease burden in the community, our research focus is rural areas where many infectious diseases originate. We also working to improve the quality of lives of young people and women through series of empowerment programmes. Our Objectives includes but not limited to conducting research into major health problems which threaten rural areas and beyond, engaging the communities that host us, provide services to reduce Gender Based Violence, inspire and involve current and future generations in medical research, promoting healthy living among the youth, children and women against the deadly diseases such as Malaria, HIV/AIDS, TB, Diarrhea, Hepatitis, Measles and so on, strengthening community through capacity building initiatives programmes, promoting Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the United Nation, collaborating, networking and partnering with the relevant agencies with similar objectives and promoting sustainable education to girls child at all levels..

Global Promoters for Community Initiatives (GPCI) is presently implementing a three-year Global Fund Malaria NFM3 Grant as a CBO under Civil Society for Malaria Control, Immunization and Nutrition (ACOMIN) in Niger State for the period 2021 – 2023. The aim of the project is to pursue an increase in the quality of services, generate real-time objective information and assess the quality and quantity of service delivery, reduce wastage and loss of interventions and advocate for increased resource allocation for malaria intervention in LGAs of Implementation.

Core Responsibilities

The Program Assistant will support the implementation of GPCI Global Fund Malaria NFM3 Grant at the LGA/Health Facility/community levels by;

  • Supporting the selection of members of Community Accountability Team (CAT) which made up of a Ward Health Development Committee Member and Community representative.
  • Provide leadership to and coordinate the activities of Community Accountability Team
  • Conduct Advocacy to key stakeholders in the communities of implementation on relevant issues that arise from CAT activities.
  • Identify and create linkages with health facilities in selected LGA to facilitate effective work relationships.
  • Conduct client satisfaction interview on a monthly basis at the health facilities to elicit their opinions on availability and quality of service provision.
  • Conduct Focus Group Discussions at selected communities twice in a quarter (entry and exit) to discuss project achievements, service provision or quality challenges/bottlenecks and ways of addressing them
  • Conduct advocacy at the facilities, communities, LGA and state levels to resolve challenges and problems identified during implementation activities.
  • Document identified issues at the health facilities and provide immediate feedback on how to resolve issues using standardized reporting template
  • Retire all funds disbursed for the implementation of project activities on monthly basis
  • Submit quarterly project work plan.
  • Collect, collate and report validated project data and information generated using relevant tools and templates on a monthly basis
  • Ensure project sustainability and impact through involvement of relevant community actors
  • Any other duty when assigned

Necessary Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree/ HND in Sociology, Social Work, Sciences or related field
  • 2-3 years of experience in Non-Profit Sector with programmatic support of community projects
  • A broad variety of programmatic, administrative, financial, and computer skills (including knowledge in the use of MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Access).
  • Proficiency in writing and editing letters, reports, and documents
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills
  • Pay close attention to details
  • Demonstrate excellent time-management skills.
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision, take initiative and make sound judgment while maintaining a team players spirit.
  • Ability to multitask and deliver promptly.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports in English and knowledge of Hausa is strongly preferred.
  • Willingness to learn in a fast-paced work environment amongst a dynamic team.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and show initiative. Demonstrated attention to detail, ability to follow procedures, meet deadlines and work cooperatively with team members.

Due to the peculiarity of the roles of this position, only persons who are either indigenes/residents of Bosso or Chanchaga LGA of Niger State and are fluent in Hausa Language should apply.
