Malaria Consortium Nigeria is committed to tackling the large number of malaria cases and deaths in the country. Working in partnership with the Ministry of Health and other partners, we lead and support three major malaria control initiatives in the country: Support to the National Malaria Control Programme (SuNMaP); NetWorks and MAPS.

Malaria Consortium requires qualified Senior LGA Coordinators in Anambra state that will provide direct oversight and accountability for effective coordination of all mass campaign activities in the assigned LGA during the ITN mass campaign, providing regular feedback to the Campaign Implementation Team. The consultants are expected to work closely with the ICT4D, technical, operations and finance teams as well as LGA-level team, health facility workers and community volunteers that serve as the frontline service providers.  The consultants will report to the Senior Campaign Manager who will provide overall coordination and technical oversight to the campaign team. The consultants will also relate appropriately with other MC team such as the Supply Chain Officer, M&E Officer, Admin Officer and Finance Officer as may be necessary.

Specific Activities for the Senior LGA Coordinators

  • Oversee ITN campaign to ensure oversight and accountability in the assigned LGA
  • Support the ITN LGA Coordinator in providing monitoring and supervision of campaign activities in the LGA and directly support a cluster to ensure the implementation of ITN campaign in the cluster
  • Ensure accountability of ITN and other tools needed in the assigned LGAs
  • Track campaign targets and timely implement the planned activities to ensure program meets targets and review reports from LGAs
  • Ensure continuous monitoring and support for LGA coordinators.
  • Ensure that the campaign is implemented in accordance with the National Operational Manual and MC guidelines at the assigned LGA.
  • S/he will supervise personnel recruitment
  • Support the LGA in advocacy to stakeholders
  • Ensure trainings are carried out accordingly and support the trainings as required
  • Support monitoring and supervision of all campaign activities
  • Support personnel data changes on the ICT4D platform
  • Ensure review meetings are held and escalate issues that cannot be resolved at the LGA to the state campaign team for intervention and quick resolution
  • Coordinate vendor activities in the assigned LGA
  • Provide operations- and finance-related operational support in the LGA

Expected Output/deliverables

1.        Training plans for all trainings.

2.       Weekly activity reports and share with the Work Stream Advisors, Campaign Technical Assistant Teams and the Senior Campaign Manager for review and further actions.

3.       Weekly update to the Senior Campaign Manager

4.       Detailed ITN campaign report for the LGA after the activity.

5.       Detailed consultancy activity report on MC report template, clearly highlighting specific tasks/roles during the activity submitted at least 7days after completion of the activity.

Qualification and Experience

  • First degree (or HND) in a relevant field
  • A minimum of 3-years relevant post-graduation experience
  • Experience of conducting quality supportive supervision and data use
  • Work–related experience in a health/public health organization
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, internet navigation and Outlook
  • Previous experience in ITN mass campaigns will be an advantage
  • Previous experience in the use of electronic data monitoring systems will be an advantage

Desired Criteria and Skill

  • Previous training on the use of mobile technology for health development
  • Previous experience working with Federal and/or State Ministry of Health
  • A proven ability to work as part of a team and independently
  • Ability to work under stressful conditions and to remain flexible and calm under pressure
  • Training and supervision skills are required
