The International Committee of the Red Cross – ICRC- (www.icrc.org) is an independent humanitarian organisation, neutral and impartial organization. Abuja Delegation is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy below

Under the supervision of the Buyer Team Lead, the Buyer 1 supports the procurement process in a specific country in accordance with ICRC rules and regulations, securing the best correlation of quality, price and delivery time.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Conducts research into the availability of goods and services.
  • Independently carries out ordinary procurement for specific sector(s) up to a certain amount.
  • Drafts requests for tenders/quotes, selection tables and contracts and submits them to hierarchical superior.
  • Makes purchases and ensures deliveries are in conformity with specifications and contract details.
  • Receives goods and confirms accuracy to quantities and quality ordered.
  • Follows up final payments and settlements with the finance department.
  • Participates in statistics and reporting.
  • Receives, plans and prioritizes orders from departments. 
  • Decides procurement mode in collaboration with his/her hierarchy and the requester. 
  • Liaises with the departments for the purchasing forecast  
  • Follows eventual problems and suggests improvement in any part of the supply chain.
  • Manages all the RFT, ST, contracts and FA follow up for Abuja and for the field 
  • Ensure the completeness of the Purchase Files and a proper archiving through Paperless e-filing system
  • Ensures that purchases made under his/her responsibility are carried out in accordance with ICRC standard procedures, are auditable and transparent. 
  • Updates and maintains knowledge about main suppliers; checks the market for potential new suppliers.

Education and Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Associate Degree or equivalent higher education degree in administration, logistics, purchasing or

similar field

  • Additional vocational training in administration, logistics or purchasing
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in logistics, purchasing, administration or similar position in commercial or humanitarian sector
  • Advanced command of written and spoken English
  • Knowledge of local languages (Hausa, Pidgin, etc.) is an asset
  • Literate in Microsoft office and experienced internet user
  • Good knowledge of the local market

SALARY RANGE (Gross) – 397,700 – 437,500
