Project Summary
Project Title: Improving access to inclusive education and vocational training for people from host
communities in Northeast Nigeria, especially women and persons with disabilities.
This multi-year project is implemented by Women In the New Nigeria (WINN), in collaboration with CBM
International, and aims to improve the livelihoods of marginalized groups, including persons with
disabilities, through access to inclusive education and vocational training. The project is focused on
creating sustainable income-generating opportunities, enhancing inclusive educational facilities, and
improving protection mechanisms for women, girls, and people with disabilities across 4 local
government areas in Borno
Job Summary
The Project Officer (Inclusive Education) will play a vital role in supporting the program framework to
ensure access to inclusive and equitable education, particularly for children with disabilities. This
position will work closely with men, women, boys, and girls in the community to actively identify
barriers to access to education for children especially those with disabilities to address and mitigate
protection risks associated with child education. The role also includes collaborating with the MEAL team
to implement accountability mechanisms for beneficiaries and ensuring that the concerns of school-age
children and those with disabilities are addressed.
Key Responsibilities
- Program Implementation and Support:
o Work closely with community members, schools, and local stakeholders to implement
inclusive education activities that promote safe and accessible learning for all, with a
focus on children with disabilities.
o Support the identification, assessment, and addressing of education and protection
concerns for school-age children, ensuring these issues are incorporated into project
activities.
o Collaborate with the Senior Program Officer and field teams to develop and update
project work plans, ensuring alignment with the program’s objectives. - Protection and Advocacy:
o Engage with community members, including parents, teachers, and leaders, to raise
awareness and promote understanding of disability inclusion in education.
o Implement systematic methods for identifying and addressing protection risks, including
developing protection strategies and referring high-risk cases to specialized support
services.
o Promote the development of a safe and inclusive educational environment for
vulnerable children and monitor the effectiveness of these protection interventions.
- Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL):
o Collaborate with the MEAL team to design and implement accountability mechanisms
that ensure project beneficiaries, including school-age children and children with
disabilities, have avenues to report concerns or provide feedback.
o Conduct regular monitoring visits to assess the effectiveness of inclusive education
activities and identify areas for improvement.
o Document success stories, lessons learned, and feedback from project beneficiaries to
support continuous improvement and donor reporting. - Stakeholder Coordination and Capacity Building:
o Build and maintain strong relationships with local schools, government agencies, and
community-based organizations to facilitate smooth project implementation.
o Organize and facilitate capacity-building workshops for teachers and community
members on inclusive education practices and child protection.
o Coordinate with relevant stakeholders to ensure alignment and integration of inclusive
education activities with other program areas. - Reporting and Documentation:
o Prepare and submit regular progress reports on inclusive education activities,
highlighting achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
o Ensure accurate record-keeping of project data and beneficiary information for
accountability and reporting purposes.
o Support the Senior Program Officer in compiling data for donor reports and other
project documentation requirements. - Other Duties:
o Assist with logistics and planning for inclusive education activities, including community
engagement events, training sessions, and meetings.
o Contribute to the development of program resources, tools, and materials that promote
inclusive education and disability protection.
o Participate in regular team meetings and provide updates on inclusive education project
progress.
Position Requirements
- Education:
o Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Psychology, Development
Studies, or a related field. - Experience:
o At least 2 years of experience in inclusive education, child protection, or working with
vulnerable children in a humanitarian or development context.
o Experience in working with children with disabilities and/or implementing disability-
inclusive practices.
o Demonstrated experience in engaging communities on education and child protection
issues.
- Skills & Competencies:
o Strong knowledge of inclusive education, child protection principles, and disability
rights.
o Proven experience in implementing community-based education or child protection
programs.
o Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse
community members.
o Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and data management.
o Fluent in English and Hausa (proficiency in other local languages is an advantage). - Other Requirements:
o Willingness to travel to and work in field-based locations.

o Previous experience with an NGO or community-based organization is preferred.
