Background
Concern for Women and Children Development Foundation (COWACDI) is a women-led organization founded out of a passion for the well-being of women and children in Nigeria. The organization is dedicated to mitigating the suffering of vulnerable persons, particularly women and children, during times of crisis. Currently, COWACDI focuses on the northeastern region of Nigeria, with special emphasis on Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states (the BAY states) due to the ongoing crisis in the area.
COWACDI employs a community-based approach to address gender-based violence prevention and response programs, child protection, peace-building initiatives, and the empowerment of youth and women. Since its establishment in 2005, the organization has implemented humanitarian and developmental interventions in protection, peacebuilding, housing, land & property (HLP), non-food items (NFI), and livelihood programs. These efforts have directly impacted over 8,000 vulnerable children, women, girls, boys, and people with disabilities.
In a bid to expand its reach, COWACDI will be implementing the CommCare Connect Child Health Campaign (CCC-CHC) project. The organization upholds the principles of humanitarian law and adheres to international standards such as humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, accountability to affected populations, and zero tolerance for fraud and related activities.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead and support the planning, quantification, and selection of nutrition service sites for establishment and operation.
- Support and supervise the CMAM (Community-based Management of Acute Malnutrition) teams at nutrition service sites.
- Ensure that all beneficiaries (children and pregnant/lactating women) in the CMAM program receive care and treatment in accordance with Ministry of Health and GOSS Guidelines, including proper anthropometric measurements, referrals, and treatment.
- Conduct weekly supervision of community nutrition workers (CNWs) at nutrition service sites.
- Facilitate and organize the referral of sick children to stabilization centers and ensure effective follow-ups.
- Implement follow-up protocols that require community outreach on a weekly basis for OTP (Outpatient Therapeutic Program) patients.
- Identify and engage community leaders who will collaborate with the program at the village level.
- Assist community nutrition workers in developing monthly work plans for nutrition activities.
- Coordinate frontline workers (FLWs) in the field to ensure effective program execution.
- Collaborate with relevant sectors such as health and nutrition to ensure a well-informed and coordinated response.
- Oversee the management of supplies, monitor stock levels, and report accordingly.

Qualifications & Experience
- A Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Nursing, Medical Laboratory Science, or any health-related field.
- A minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in an NGO setting.
- Proven experience in protection-related work and humanitarian response.
- Strong understanding of human rights principles and international humanitarian law.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Fluency in English (written and oral) is required; fluency in Hausa or a native language of the area is an added advantage.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Strong ability to analyze and solve problems effectively.
- Commitment to learning and implementing organizational policies and procedures.
Other Requirements
- Appointment is subject to certification of medical fitness, verification of credentials, and security clearances.
- Position is contingent on funding confirmation.
