As part of our commitment to improving health and nutrition outcomes, we are recruiting a motivated and experienced Human Resources Officer to support our field operations in Maiduguri, Magumeri, and Mare.

Job Vacancy: Human Resources Officer
Location: Maiduguri, Borno State
Organization: Five Teams Empowerment Initiative (5TEi)

Employment Type: Contract, 6 months extendable

Position Summary

The HR Officer will be responsible for supporting the full range of human resources functions, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, employee relations, HR compliance, and administrative support. The HR Officer will ensure that HR systems and policies are applied effectively and ethically across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support recruitment efforts including job advertisement, shortlisting, interviews, and onboarding.
  • Maintain up-to-date HR records and personnel files in accordance with legal and organizational requirements.
  • Coordinate staff inductions and orientation to ensure new staff understand policies and procedures.
  • Support performance management processes including goal setting, appraisals, and professional development.
  • Address employee relations issues professionally and confidentially.
  • Ensure compliance with national labor laws and donor requirements in HR practices.
  • Draft employment contracts, letters, and HR-related documentation.
  • Maintain leave records, timesheets, and other employee attendance systems.
  • Monitor and enforce HR policies and the Code of Conduct, ensuring fairness and transparency.
  • Provide support to line managers in addressing staffing and organizational needs.
  • Ensure confidentiality, integrity, and security of HR data.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • A minimum of 2–3 years of relevant HR experience in a similar role, preferably with an NGO or humanitarian organization.
  • Knowledge of Nigerian labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage sensitive issues.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and HRIS systems.
  • High level of discretion, ethics, and confidentiality.

Other Requirements

  • Ability to travel to field locations as required.
  • Fluency in English and Hausa (spoken and written) is preferred.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
