Under the supervision of the direct supervision of Head of Office (HoO), Mubi, the health Field Officer Supports the planning, implementation and monitoring of Primary Health Activities including first aid activities and nutrition as per the health strategy, develops an understanding of the challenges in the AOR and maintains contact with the relevant health authorities at state and LGA level and other NGOs.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Conducts regular monitoring visits to PHCs, identifies and addresses problems.
  • Ensures that the SOP related to PHC/Reproductive health are available in PHCs
  • Ensures rational use of drugs and appropriate use of drugs as per national standards, 
  • Organizes and supports relevant trainings at PHC level including IMCI, nutrition trainings, first aid trainings and Reproductive Health in collaboration with Mubi FO, Health Delegate   and APHCDA. 
  • Ensures that Health Care in Danger is included in all trainings.
  • Supports ongoing monitoring of health and curative care activities at PHC level and provides onsite training. Reports issues to the LGA Health Director/SPHCDA.     
  • Maintains regular contact with relevant interlocutors at State, LGA, and community and conducts joint monitoring of PHCs (minimum of every 3 months) with LGA Health/SPHCDA.  
  • Work closely with the nutrition health officer to monitor nutrition situation for children under 5 and ensure referral and follow up of cases with medical complications 
  • Participate in training of health workers and community volunteers (CVs) on different health issues including IYCF, hygiene promotion and malnutrition
  • Develop the technical capacity of PHCC staff implementing CMAM and IYCF activities through on job mentoring  
  • Provide support supervision to health workers in the supported facilities to improve on delivery of quality nutrition services at the health facilities and communities
  • Ensure adequate linkage between the OTP centres and SCs to ensure smooth referral processes for children referred to the SC from OTP and SC back to OTP
  • Follows up patient accounts at referral hospitals and prepares documentation for payment.  
  • Ensures that items from other agencies/MOH are supplied to the PHCC e.g.  Pep kits, HIV tests, Clean delivery kits, family planning items.  
  • Provides input to internal reporting i.e., data collection, WOR, MAD, MFR, QHTR, weekly reporting Understands Accountability to Affected Populations (AAP) and disseminates in health programs.  
  • Supports oral and written translations as required i.e., translating in meetings with ICRC community interlocutors, information leaflets, etc.  
  • Ensures that drug inventories and orders are completed on time and stocks received in PHC/hospital as required.  
  • Monitors equipment use/needs in AOR, ensures rational use and inventory of donated equipment is maintained in each health facility.    
  • Prepares documentation for payment of incentives for PHC staff and ensures that staff are paid each month. 

Education and Experience Required

  • BNSC in Nursing
  • Registered/Valid licence with Nigerian Nursing and Midwifery council 
  • Minimum of 3 years cognate experience as a Midwife/Nurse

Desired Profile

  • Fluent in oral and written English, 
  • Fluent in Hausa language
  • Good Computer skills-MS word, EXCEL
  • Good understanding of the context in Adamawa
