Clinic Assistant at the Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN)

The Planned Parenthood Federation of Nigeria (PPFN) is a national non-governmental organization promoting Reproductive Health (RH) in Nigeria. As a full member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF), PPFN has expanded the scope of its programs beyond family planning to cover broad reproductive health, emphasizing the needs of adolescents and young people and safe motherhood. 

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Clinic Assistant

Location: Jigawa

Responsibilities

  • The purpose of this position is to oversee the affairs of PPFN in the state including general maintenance and provision of RH/FP services in the clinic.

Key Function

  • Counsel new clients on all services available using the basic information handout as a guide
  • Assist clients with registration and provide basic information on FP and reproductive health services.
  • Guide clients through the clinic process and ensure they receive the necessary services.
  • Prepare examination rooms and ensure necessary medical supplies are available.
  • Ensure infection prevention and control measures are followed
  • Provide basic FP and reproductive health education to clients
  •  Distribute informational materials on contraception, STIs, and maternal health.
  • Refer clients to healthcare providers for in-depth counseling or specialized care.
  • Assist in organizing FP awareness campaigns and community outreach programs.
  • Support mobile clinic services in underserved areas.
  • Collect client feedback to improve service delivery.
  • Schedule client appointments and manage clinic flow
  • Maintain cleanliness and orderliness in the clinic environment.
  • Assist with inventory management of clinic supplies
  • Collate weekly, monthly, quarterly clinic statistics.

Requirements

  • Must be a Community Health Extension Worker (CHEW), Registered with the Board of Community Health worker’s practitioner.
  • Three (3) years relevant work experience in SRH/FP provision
  • Excellent contextual, analytical, writing and oral communication skills.
  • Team leadership and teams playing qualities / experience.
  • Familiarity with the WHO eligibility criteria for contraceptives use.
  • Computer literacy skills
  • Not more than 35 years old.
