Role Summary
The Program Assistant will support the Executive Director in implementing GC7 NTHRIP Grant activities in Plateau State. The role focuses primarily on TB Active Case Finding (ACF) for drug-sensitive and drug-resistant TB (DR-TB), while leveraging PMTCT experience to deliver integrated HIV/TB services. The ideal candidate must be hardworking, resourceful, and highly skilled in reporting and program assessments.
Key Responsibilities
1. TB ACF & DR-TB Programming (Primary Focus)
- Plan and execute community ACF campaigns, including community screening, sputum collection, and referral to GeneXpert/DOTS sites.
- Track presumptive TB cases closely from identification to diagnosis and treatment initiation.
- Identify high-risk groups for Drug-Resistant TB (DR-TB) and manage targeted interventions.
2. PMTCT Integration
- Link HIV-positive pregnant and breastfeeding women to PMTCT services.
- Monitor and ensure long-term retention of mothers and infants in care.
3. Assessments, Data & Reporting
- Conduct needs, mapping, and outcome assessments to guide and optimize ACF strategies.
- Write comprehensive weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports for the Executive Director and donor.
- Maintain accurate ACF registers and trackers using Microsoft Excel.
- Prepare program data for DHIS2 upload.
4. Administration & Stakeholder Management
- Create PowerPoint presentation summaries for key stakeholders.
- Engage and collaborate with LGA TB/HIV coordinators, health facilities, and community leaders.
- Assist the Executive Director with activity budgeting, ACF medical supplies procurement, and administrative filing.
Required Experience & Skills
Mandatory Experience
- 2–3 years of experience in a similar donor-funded role.
- TB Active Case Finding (community screening, contact tracing, and referrals).
- DR-TB programming and PMTCT (linkage and retention for HIV+ mothers/infants).
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Public Health, Nursing, Community Health, or a related field.
Technical Proficiency
- Advanced/Proficient: Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Added Advantage: Proficiency with DHIS2.
Key Competencies
- Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
- Hardworking, resourceful, with strong attention to detail.
- Ability and willingness to travel frequently within Plateau State.
