Overview of CPPLI
Child Protection and Peer Learning Initiative (CPPLI) is a human-centered social development not-for-profit, non-partisan, non-sectarian National Non-Governmental Organization (NNGO) that was established and registered with the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) of the Federal Republic of Nigeria in June 2010 with the sole aim of ensuring that less privilege and vulnerable children (particularly girls) and women as well as populations affected by humanitarian emergencies have access and attain a quality life and education through building sustainable partnership with government agencies, UN-agencies, communities, individuals and other stakeholders in obtaining mechanisms and resources to achieve its aim and focus. The organization thematically focuses on Protection, Health, Nutrition, Education and Governance. Being a national and local organization, CPPLI is geographically operating in the Northeast Nigeria with tremendous technical expertise of working in Borno, Adamawa and Yobe (BAY) states due to its well understanding of the cultural dynamics and change in context of the communities in the BAY states.
CPPLI stand against Sexual Exploitation and Abuse (SEA).
CPPLI has a zero-tolerance policy with regard to SEA by her personnel. All forms of sexual exploitation and abuse are incompatible with the universally accepted norms, values, principles and standards that underpin CPPLI. Protection from SEA is the responsibility of everyone and all selected candidates will be required to comply with the CPPLI’s PSEA Policy at all times. Selected candidates will therefore undergo rigorous reference and background checks against their past behavior related to sexual exploitation and abuse, and may be required to provide additional information further on in the selection process

Objectives
The primary objective of recruiting a Protection Assistant is to provide functional, administrative, and technical support to a protection unit to ensure that the rights, safety, and dignity of vulnerable individuals—such as refugees, asylum-seekers, and internally displaced persons (IDPs)—are upheld. They act as a critical link between the organization and the community, facilitating access to services and conducting case management
PURPOSE
A Protection Assistant (GBV) on a project provides confidential, survivor-centered case management, psychosocial support, and referrals for GBV survivors while facilitating community-based prevention activities. They ensure adherence to safety protocols, maintain accurate data in systems like GBVIMS/ProGres, and map local services to ensure timely, high-quality assistance.
Key Responsibilities and Roles
- He/She provide direct, confidential, and safe case management services to survivors.
- He/She conduct intake, need assessment, and develop action plans with survivors based on informed consent.
- He/She provide emotional support and counseling, including Psychological First Aid (PFA).
- He/She ensure safe referrals to medical, legal, and other specialized services.
- He/She follow up with survivors to ensure satisfaction and access to services.
- He/She maintain confidential, accurate, and up-to-date case files, adhering to data protection protocols.
- He/She utilize data systems like GBVIMS (Gender-Based Violence Information Management System) .
- He/She report and monitor GBV trends, safety risks, and gaps in services to the Protection Officer.
- He/She facilitate awareness-raising sessions on GBV risks, rights, and available services.
- He/She support community-based structures (e.g., women’s groups) and strengthen community-level support systems.
- He/She engage with men and boys through programs like EMAP (Engaging Men through Accountable Practices).
- He/She map and update referral pathways and service providers in the area.
- He/Shen represent the organization in field-based meetings and coordinate with local authorities and NGOs.
- He/She support trainings for community workers on safe identification and referral procedures.
- He/she monitor GBV risk mitigation efforts in field locations.
TECHNICAL EXPERTISE AND SKILLS
- Minimum of a University Degree, HND, OND or NCE in related field.
- Minimum of 1-year experience in a similar role.
- Excellent ability in computer skills especially Microsoft applications.
- Good understanding of CPIMS+ Primero application
- Having strong understanding of child protection in emergency (CPiE) programming.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Excellent English language writing and speaking skills.
- Fluency in Local Language is mandatory.
- Ability to work collaboratively with others colleagues
- Ability to organize ideas in a logical and structured manner.
- Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks and deadlines
