Job Summary
- Our organization is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Program Manager to support our projects in Borno State.
- The Program Manager will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of Project activities.
- The role ensures quality delivery of community outreach, capacity-building, data collection, and coordination tasks.
- The successful candidate will work closely with community volunteers, health workers, government stakeholders, and other project team members across Borno State.
Key Responsibilities
Program Implementation:
- Lead the planning, implementation, and quality assurance of FID’s projects in line with approved work plans and budgets.
- Translate donor agreements and proposals into actionable implementation plans, timelines, and deliverables.
- Identify implementation bottlenecks and proactively adapt program strategies to context, security, and community realities in North-East Nigeria.
Community Mobilization & Capacity Strengthening:
- Facilitate community entry, stakeholder engagement, and mobilization for program activities.
- Assist in the training of Community Champions and peer educators
- Provide supportive supervision and mentorship to community structures.
Monitoring, Evaluation & Reporting:
- Oversee routine data collection, analysis, and reporting against project indicators and log-frames.
- Work with the M&E function to track progress, document lessons learned, and inform course correction.
- Ensure community feedback and complaint mechanisms are functional and responsive across program sites.
- Prepare weekly and monthly activity reports for the Project.
Stakeholder & Partnership Management:
- Represent FID in coordination meetings, working groups, and forums with government, UN agencies, donors, and community structures.
- Maintain strong working relationships with traditional and community leaders, schools, health facilities, and other partners critical to program delivery.
- Support resource mobilization efforts, including stakeholder dialogues and donor engagement for new and existing projects.
Safeguarding & Accountability:
- Ensure adherence to safeguarding and PSEA policies in all program activities.
- Promote accountability to beneficiaries through feedback mechanisms and inclusive programming.
- Report any safeguarding concerns immediately following organizational procedures.
Requirements
Education:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Sciences, Public Health, Development Studies, Project Management, or a related field (required).
- A Master’s degree or postgraduate qualification in a relevant field is an added advantage.
- Project Management certification (e.g., PMP, PRINCE2, PMD Pro) is desirable.
Experience:
- 1-3 years’ progressive experience managing programs in the non-profit/development sector, at least 2 years of which in a program/project management or senior coordination role.
- Demonstrated experience implementing programs in child protection, GBV, public health/nutrition, drug demand reduction, or SRHR is strongly preferred.
- Proven track record of managing project budgets, donor reporting, and multi-disciplinary teams.
Required Skills & Competencies:
- Strong program/project management skills, including work planning, budgeting, and M&E.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including donor report writing.
- Strong leadership, people management, and team-building skills.
- Sound understanding of safeguarding, PSEA, and Do No Harm principles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with data collection tools (Kobo Toolbox, ODK, or similar) is an advantage.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and move frequently to field locations.
- High level of integrity, cultural sensitivity, and commitment to FID’s mission and values.
- Fluency in English; Hausa or other local languages is an added advantage.
