Restoration of Hope Initiative (ROHI) is a national Non-Governmental Organization based in Yola with a field office in Mubi, Adamawa State and Maiduguri Borno State. 

ROHI in partnership with PLAN International is implementing an 18-month protection intervention, focusing on SRHR and GBV prevention and response, including Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) to improve access to quality lifesaving SRHR and well-coordinated protection of adolescents and women at risk of GBV, through comprehensive case management, context specific information sharing with the support of the School Based Management Committee (SBMC) and enhanced Psychosocial Support (PSS) mechanisms in Adamawa State (Yola North, Yola South, Girei and Lamourde LGAs). 

ROHI is currently seeking qualified candidates for the positions of:

VSLA FACILITATOR

Location: Yola

The VSLA facilitator will:

  • Support in community sensitization, mobilization, awareness creation and ensure beneficiaries are selected based on community based participatory criteria.
  • Lead in group formation, livelihoods and financial literacy training at group level.
  • Support the collection and authentication of all information sheets (beneficiary lists, registration forms, distribution lists, and others) for delivery of livelihood intervention services in groups formed in community of operation.
  • Facilitate training on core VSLA modules for groups formed including setting up groups as platform for delivery of livelihood and financial literacy training. 

As evidence of performance of duties, and for which payment of incentive would be paid, the Livelihood/VSLA facilitators will be required to deliver the following:

 i. Monthly work plan, which will be reviewed and approved by supervisors and Livelihoods/Cash officers.

ii.   Community sensitization and mobilization report on VSLAs.

iii.  List and names of VSLAs formed with valid membership list. 

iv.    At least visit 3 groups per day. Periodic updates on the saving activities of each VSLAs formed and supported. 

v. Monthly report on VSLA loan utilization (number of group members who have taken loans. Amount and purpose of loan). vii. Act as enumerator – for surveys and assessment related to project activities.  viii. Any new additional task to be assigned by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, or Diploma in relevant discipline (Finance and Administration, Agriculture, Development Studies, Community Development)
  • At least 1-2 years of relevant working experience preferably in community development, micro-finance, or entrepreneurship.  
  • Experience with VSLA highly desirable (standardized VSLA training will be provided for facilitators recruited).
  • Language Skills required Proficiency in English, Hausa and a working knowledge of the community language will be an advantage.
  • Strong experience working with community group.
  • Great communication skills and ability to clearly and effectively convey complex concepts to populations with limited numeracy and literacy skill.  
  • Excellent training and mentoring skill.  
  • Familiarity with savings and credit schemes (VSLA methodology preferred)
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to foster team spirit.
