Position: Translator
Location: Nation Wide
OBJECTIVES:
We are seeking a passionate, detail-oriented Translators to join our team and provide routine support to research activities under the guidance of the Strategic Research and Learning Unit.
OVERALL RESPONSIBILITIES:
The key responsibilities of the transcriber include the following:
- The candidate will translate relevant research study-related documents and instruments e.g., Discussion Guides, Questionnaires, etc, from English into the appropriate local language (e.g., Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Pidgin) or from the local language (e.g., Hausa, Yoruba, Igbo, Pidgin) to English.
- Ensure translated texts convey original meaning and tone.
- Proofread translated texts for grammar, spelling and punctuation accuracy.
- Support with pretest of some of the contents with clients to ensure translation meets their needs.
- Edit content and maintain the original format (font and structure).
- Submit the final version to the team upon completion of the assignment.
Note: The role contributes to furthering MSI’s Vision: To create A WORLD IN WHICH EVERY BIRTH IS WANTED and its mission of ensuring the individual’s right to CHILDREN BY CHOICE NOT CHANCE. Work with the supervisor to finalise the survey work plan for the assigned health facilities.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- First degree in an or equivalent in any discipline is essential.
- Previous experience in transcribing audio recordings is essential.
- Speaks, reads, and writes fluently in English, Yoruba, Igbo and Pidgin
- Excellent proofreading skills with the ability to identify grammar, spelling and punctuation errors. – Good knowledge of content editing tools.
- Time -management skills.
- Must have a computer system and excellent computer application skills. Particularly MS Word and Excel.
- Must have a very good computer typing speed.
- Pro-choice.
- Team player.
Strong attention to detail.
