The Black Community Commitment initiative, in partnership with Michael Jordan, is launching the fifth round of the annual Community Grant Program to support grassroots nonprofit organizations across the United States. This initiative is part of a 10-year, $100 million commitment to advancing racial equity.
Application Period: January 15 – February 16, 2025 (11:59 PM PST)
Eligibility Criteria
Organizations must:
- Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit established in 2023 or earlier
- Have an annual operating budget between $100,000 and $3 million
- Align with at least one of the program’s key focus areas
- Organizations with fiscal sponsors are eligible but must provide governance materials, financials, and a signed memorandum of understanding (MOU)
Focus Areas
- Economic Justice: Expanding pathways to generational wealth through financial literacy and career development coaching
- Education: Supporting Black students by increasing the number of Black educators, assisting underserved schools, and providing access to higher education
- Narrative Change: Raising awareness of the role of race in history to promote a deeper understanding of the consequences of racism
- Social Justice: Investing in policy reform and advocacy to increase voter registration and civic participation
