 The International Committee of the Red Cross – ICRC- (www.icrc.org) is an independent humanitarian organisation, neutral and impartial. Maiduguri Sub Delegation is looking for a suitable candidate to fill the vacancy below

Under the direct supervision of the RFL Delegate, the RFL Assistant supports in the implementation of ICRC RFL activities in his/her area of responsibility and in close collaboration with the RFL Field Officers in ICRC Maiduguri Sub-Delegation. S/he is mainly in charge of office-based tasks, such as reporting, filing, receiving visits and phone enquiries from the beneficiaries and responding to them; s/he also supports the team in field work, when needed.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Supports the RFL Field Officers and Delegate by preparing working lists and analyzing the individual files as well as by analysing the RFL caseload, preparing the follow ups to be carried out through working lists or follow up forms.
  • Drafts donation certificates and Handover certificates prior to Family Reunifications.
  • Raises Requisition Orders to purchase the items needed for field activities.
  • Sends transport and field trip requests.
  • Helps in the collection and finalization of supporting documents to settle Working Advances.
  • Participates to RFL activities in the field, including to field trips of several days, when needed.
  • Interacts with beneficiaries visiting or calling the Sub-Delegation and responds to their RFL-related enquiries and documents cases.
  • Keeps records of the enquiries received and reports thereof to the rest of the RFL team;
  • Is responsible to open, treat and distribute, prepare and send incoming and outgoing correspondence.
  • Supports in the filing related to the Office.

Education and Experience Required

  • University degree or specialized training;
  • 2 years of work experience in humanitarian work;
  • Very good command of written and spoken English, and spoken Hausa and Kanuri; French is an asset; Ÿ       Very good computer skills, in particular with Excel, Word, if possible, PowerPoint;
  • Good knowledge of Nigerian geography.

  • Aptitude for applying and ensuring compliance with ICRC directives and procedures
