Background
Center for Child Care and Human Development (C3HD) is a Child Centered and Women Focused (CCWF) non-governmental, non-tribal, non-religious and non-profitable organization established and registered with state in 2017 and later registered as a non-profit organization with Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC).
C3HD was established to respond to the needs of the most vulnerable communities and especially women and children, people with disabilities and those affected by conflict and insurgency through maximizing contributions to Health care and wellbeing, Education, WASH, Gender, social and disability inclusions, Protection, Peace Building, and Economic recovery and Livelihood.
C3HD is striving for an all-inclusive community and human development for all, including populations who are marginalized, underserved or affected by conflict or insurgency, catering to their health and wellbeing. We have a mission of transforming the lives women and children on the edges of society and help them regain and pursue their dreams for sustainable development.
C3HD acts as an agent for change. For 5 years and in 4 states (Yobe, Borno, Adamawa and Kano States), we help women and children to overcome the massive problem they face through reducing inequality in accessing health services and education, responding to violence and exclusion,
promoting food security, empowerment, peace and resilience building of communities to be able to withstand and respond to future hardships. We employ “the protective communities’ approach” to our programming’s by mainstreaming safeguarding and protection in our activities.
Qualifications:
- Minimum National Diploma (ND), NCE, or Senior Secondary School Certificate (SSCE).
- Certificate or training in Public Health, Environmental Health, Nursing, Community Health, or Laboratory Science is an added advantage.
- Training in Emergency Preparedness, First Aid, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC), or Epidemic/Pandemic Response is desirable.
Experience
- At least 1 year experience working in community health, emergency response, disease surveillance, or WASH activities.
- Prior involvement in epidemic preparedness, contact tracing, community sensitization, or rapid assessments.
- Experience working in humanitarian settings or with vulnerable communities is an advantage.
- Experience using mobile data collection tools (ODK, KoboCollect) is desirable.
Responsibilities
- Support immediate field response during outbreaks (cholera, measles, COVID-19, meningitis, etc.).
- Conduct rapid needs assessments and community-level situational monitoring.
- Participate in contact tracing, line listing, and active case finding.
- Assist in setting up temporary treatment points, WASH interventions, or emergency screening areas.
- Conduct health education sessions on outbreak prevention and control.
- Disseminate key messages on hygiene promotion, early care-seeking, and behavior change.
- Engage traditional leaders, youth groups, and women’s groups to promote community compliance.
- Provide daily updates on community alerts, case numbers, and referral outcomes.
- Collect, document, and report data to the Emergency Response Officer.
- Support environmental surveillance where applicable (water source checks, sanitation monitoring).
- Promote hand hygiene, sanitation, and basic environmental cleaning in communities.
- Support distribution of PPEs, hygiene kits, and outbreak supplies.
- Monitor compliance with IPC standards in designated response areas.
- Promote awareness of Complaint and Feedback Mechanisms (CFM).
- Sensitize communities on PSEA, safeguarding, and safe reporting channels.
- Uphold organizational safeguarding policies and ensure respect for beneficiary dignity.
- Work closely with health facility teams, community leaders, and local authorities.
- Assist in logistics for outbreak response activities (transporting supplies, setting up stations).
- Participate in training sessions, briefings, and daily team debriefs.
- Support any additional emergency response tasks assigned by the supervisor.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all safety and security protocols.
