CARE BEST INITIATIVE (CBI) is a growing woman-led National Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in 2019 and presently operational in the BAY states within the North-East. Our actions are to save lives, alleviate the suffering of children, women and other vulnerable people; and to maintain human dignity during and in the after math of man–made crises and natural disasters; as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situation; and to promote the right of children, women and vulnerable people in the society. CBI is partnering with Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) to improve access to the prevention and treatment services of acute malnutrition among children, pregnant and breastfeeding women; and reduce morbidity and mortality among these vulnerable groups. ROLE
Reporting to the Head of Operations, the HR Officer is responsible for the employee life cycle management of staff in the Nigeria office. The HR Officer will work in close collaboration with the global HR team ensuring compliance with local and global HR policies and the deployment of global HR initiatives and assist in day-to-day office operations. This role is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of two years, subject to funding, and is based in our office in Yobe, Nigeria.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Advising and supporting people managers and team members on internal HR processes
- Supporting the country office recruitment process including but not limited to raising and tracking of job requisitions, advertising, screening, scheduling and interviewing in line with GAIN policies and procedures
- Liaising with the global HR team to ensure offer letters and contracts are prepared and issued in a timely manner.
- Ensuring adherence to all CBI policies and ensuring compliance with local labour law as well as with CBI’s HR internal processes
- Planning and ensuring systematic induction for all new staff and induction plans
- Ensuring staff data is kept up to date and records are protected and confidential
- Tracking attendance, leave, eligibility and balances of all staff ensuring records are kept updated as per organizational requirements
- Collating and verifying employee information for payroll administration, ensuring monthly payroll changes are within pre-set time scales
- Assisting in planning and organizing staff development and training activities for the Country Office in close collaboration with the Head of Operations and the global HR team
REQUIREMENTS
- Proven experience as HR officer, administrator or other HR position
- Knowledge of HR functions (pay & benefits, recruitment, training & development etc.)
- Understanding of labor laws and disciplinary procedures
- Proficient in MS Office; knowledge of HRMS is a plus
- Outstanding organizational and time-management abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Problem-solving and decision-making aptitude
- Strong ethics and reliability
- BSc/BA in business administration, social studies or relevant field
- Ability to speak Hausa, Kanuri and English
