Plan International was founded over 75 years ago with a mission to promote and protect the rights of children. The organisation was set up by British journalist John Langdon-Davies and refugee worker Eric Muggeridge in 1937, with the original aim to provide food, accommodation and education to children whose lives had been disrupted by the Spanish Civil War. Langdon-Davies conceived the idea of a personal relationship between a child and a sponsor – a model that puts the child at the centre, and remains the core of what we do. Today, Plan International is a global organisation that is active in over 70 countries to advance children’s rights and equality for girls.

The opportunity
The post holder will oversee Child Protection in Emergency (CPiE) and Gender Based Violence in Emergency (GBViE) activities in designated Local Government Areas (LGAs) of Borno state and ensure that the project is implemented in accordance with the agreed workplan and as per the signed agreement with the donor and Plan International. He/she will be providing hands-on guidance, support, mentoring and coaching to CPiE and GBViE frontline staff, Case Workers and PSS volunteers to ensure smooth and quality implementation of child protection and GBV in emergencies project.
About You
- We are looking for an applicant with a University degree in Social Science, Social Work, human rights, law, psychology or related field.
- The candidate should possess a minimum of 3-5 years’ experience in child protection work with a humanitarian organisation.
- S/he should have solid knowledge base and practical experience in community-based child protection approaches, case management, psychosocial support and child participation methodologies.
