Unique Care and Support Foundation (CASFOD) is a children and women’s rights national non-governmental organization supporting the Humanitarian, Development and Peace (HDP) nexus. PROTECTION OFFICER

The following defines the roles and responsibilities of the protection officer.

  • Work closely with education officer to ensure the quality implementation of Child Protection activities in the field.
  • Lead on case management activities and be superviser in the designated field sites, with support from case workers, including coordinating and sharing data with other service providers using the new Case Management SOPs, annexes, forms and handbook.
  • Prepare monthly activity plans with line staff as necessary and ensure smooth implementation of these plans.
  • Set up/strenghen child protection committees, including training and awareness raising on child protection law in their communities and linking children to available services.
  • Set up/support and monitor child protection help desks to identify, support and refer children with protection concerns.
  • Monitor and assess the implementation of the program, ensuring that case workers are using the case management forms consistently and correctly.
  • Ensure quality and timely registration of recovered abductees and at-risk children including UASC.
  • Ensure all data from the case management are kept confidential and only shared on a need-to-know bases and in accordance with case management SoP.
  • Perform other functions related to GBV prevention and response including establishment and management of complaints and feedback mechanism.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience of working in Nigeria on Education or protection response.
  • Demonstrated experience and commitment to working with children in conflict affected communities.
  • Fluency in English and excellent writing skills.
  • Strong analytical, reporting, strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Fair monitoring and evaluation skills/experience.
  • Knowledge of project cycle management.
