Applicants Welfare & Development Centre (AWANDEC) is a non-governmental, non-political organization established in March, 2000. It was formerly called Applicants Welfare & National Development Centre. It is registered with the Akwa Ibom State government through Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Welfare in 2003, and the Federal Government of Nigeria through Corporate Affairs Commission in 2010 with Registration Certificate (CAC/IT/NO. 38557).

We are recruiting to fill the positions below:

Job Title: Program Manager

Location: Okobo, Akwa Ibom State

AWANDEC presently partners with Center for Clinical Care and Research Nigeria (CCCRN) to implement the Integrated Child Health and Social Service Award (ICHSSA 1) is a five-year agreement by USAID which commenced on December 19, 2019. ICHSSA 1 is also implemented by in partnership with Catholic Relief Services, alongside other local resource experts. AWANDEC works in four (4) Project LGAs namely; Okobo, Mbo, Udung Uko & Urueoffong Oruko LGAs of Akwa Ibom State

Job Summary / Responsibilities:

  • The Program Manager is responsible for overseeing all programming activities, including ensuring the technical quality of services of the program.
  • The Program Manager works with Partners/funders to oversee the development and execution of community action plans and households/vulnerable children case plans, monitors the implementation of plans, directly facilitates technical capacity building, and supports efforts to coordinate with local government and private sector partners.
  • The Program Manager also supports in the implementation of OVC programming in line with National Plan of Action adhering strictly to national service standards with the aim of improving the technical quality of programming for children affected by HIV/AIDS. The Program Manager directs and supervises other project staff including overseeing and managing of Community Case Workers (CCWs) on the project.
  • He/She will serve as the lead for the project implementation, overseeing and coordinating all ICHSSA 1 OVC programming activities, and ensure strong communication/coordination with and between all project members as a means to effectively achieving program objectives.
  • Act as primary point of contact for ICHSSA 1 in the areas of operations interacting with  partners, government and community.
  • Lead the planning of project activities and set high quality performance targets ensuring adherence to technical standards, best practices and donor guidelines.
  • Support other project staff in developing work plans; track progress on work plans; assist with providing recommendations on challenges that arise during implementation to project team and implementing partners.
  • Use appropriate project management tools to plan, review and track progress on project implementation as well as on the utilization of project resources.
  • Provide the overarching support towards enrolling and service provision towards attaining the vision 95-95-95 of USAID/ PEPFAR on the ICHSSA 1 Project.
  • Maintain up to date documentation related to project approval, monitoring and implementation.
  • Submit timely and accurate reports related to progress and other reports as required to the donor.
  • Ensure annual performance planning and reviews of staff performance in keeping with the organization’s performance management system.

Qualifications

  • First Degree in Social Science, Education, International relations, International Development, Public health or related field.
  • At least 3 years demonstrated professional experience in managing, coordinating and supervising a team working with local community organizations, families and communities.
  • Ability to work independently, but also coordinate effectively as part of a team.
  • Skilled in influencing and obtaining cooperation of individuals;
  • Able to manage relationships to achieve results;
  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English.
  • Strong computer skills (MS Word, Excel and Power Point).
  • Demonstrated ability to assess priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously to meet deadlines with attention to details and quality.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Job Title: Finance & Compliance Officer

Location: Uyo, Akwa Ibom State

Department: Finance and Admin
Reports To: Executive Director

Job Summary / Responsibilities

  • The Finance Officer will be responsible for supervising bank transactions, preparation of payment Vouchers and writing of cheques, posting of payment Vouchers and preparation of financial reports.
  • Will be responsible for budget tracking, reviewing posted transactions, bank reconciliation and ensuring timely remittances of statutory deductions.
  • The Finance Officer will also be in charge of making requisition for funds, reimbursements and hands-supports in financial management
  • To ensure compliance with USAID rules and regulations.
  • Will keep proper financial records for donor and external audit’s view.
  • He or She will participate in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual financial reports for donor agencies and organization.
  • Make daily postings to ensure income and expenditures are given proper treatment in the project financial system. Ensure that expenditures are within budgetary allocation and report variations
  • Ensure efficient use of project resources and compliance with organizational, Nigerian and various
  • Undertakes payroll preparation, tax and pension deductions and remit same appropriately
  • Ensure efficient use of project resources and compliance with organizational, Nigerian, and various donor financial regulations and procedures.
  • Any other duty as may be assigned by the supervisor.

Minimum Qualifications / Skills

  • Applicants must have BSc / HND in Accounting or other related Social Sciences.
  • Also required is minimum of 3 years working experience
  • Strong skills in Microsoft Word Excel and Tally, sound analytical, interpersonal and communication skills. Experience in managing USAID grants, rules and regulations.
  • Familiarity with Nigeria NGOs contractual procedures and a relevant higher degree will an added advantage.
  • Belonging or in the process of belonging to a Professional Accounting Body will be an advantage.
