Job Title: NTD Finance and Risk Officer

Location: Abuja or Kaduna
Reports To: Head of NTD/ Inclusion Central Finance
Directorate: Finance and Performance

Contract: Two Year Fixed Term Contract
Hours: This is a full-time role

Dimensions

  • The NTD / Inclusion Finance, Risk and Support Team delivers on the Finance, Risk, Contracts and Supply Chain needs for all Sightsavers’ major NTD contracts and grants making up the NTD portfolio of over £100m.
  • The team is responsible for ensuring compliance with donor contractual requirements for each of our programmes, and encompasses the areas of Finance, Audit, Compliance, Contracting, Risk, VFM, Asset Management, Delivery Chain (for funding), and Supply Chain.
  • The team also delivers on these aspects for the £29m FCDO funded Disability Inclusive Development programme

Job Purpose

  • The post holder will have responsibility for the financial management of various assigned NTD programmes and proposals.
  • The post holder’s initial portfolio will have a geographical focus on Chad, DRC, Cameroon and Guinea. The post holder will also have day to day responsibility for the financial elements of the $36m+ deworming programme funded by GiveWell.

Main Responsibilities
Financial Management for assigned programmes including GiveWell ($36m+):

  • Review new programme agreements and contracts, extracting financial requirements and setting up new programmes using existing templates and systems, such as MyCLAIMS and Power BI
  • Review and provide guidance on budgets and other financial submissions prepared by partners and Sightsavers country office staff
  • Liaise with technical and programmatic teams to finalise and consolidate budgets, forecasts, financial reports, and other required submissions for donors within the required timescales
  • Monitor the financial aspects of assigned programmes/projects, both restricted and unrestricted, identifying and escalating any concerns or potential risks
  • Attend donor meetings as required
  • Assist the team with audit and financial monitoring processes.

Proposal Development:

  • Work with Institutional Funding Lead, technical and in-country Sightsavers teams/partners to define proposal requirements and manage development of budgets, forecasts, and other required submissions to donors within the required timescales
  • Ensure Sightsavers financial processes and systems are understood and properly taken account of in NTD proposal bids.

Knowledge, Skills, and Experience

  • Able to demonstrate finance and accountancy experience. Working towards an accountancy qualification an advantage
  • Awareness of overseas development context gained through working in the international development, the humanitarian sector and/or relevant sector preferable but not essential
  • Experience of institutional donor or contract management would be an advantage although training can be provided
  • Experience of working with partners and colleagues with a wide range of financial capacity and providing them with guidance and support
  • French language skills an advantage but not required
  • Proficiency with Excel is required, knowledge of Power Query and Power BI is desirable
  • Strong attention to detail, with a willingness to follow issues through to resolution
  • Well organised and conscientious with an appreciation of meeting reporting commitments
  • Able to communicate effectively and professionally across a variety of cultures
  • Willingness to continuously develop skills and knowledge to remain current with donor funding developments.
