The Center for Advocacy Transparency and Accountability Initiative (CATAI) was established in 2018 as a registered NGO with Head Office in Maiduguri – Borno State, with offices across Yobe and Adamawa state. We have been visible in Borno Adamawa and Yobe states implementing projects in Education, Protection (Child /GBV), WaSH, Nutrition, empowerment/livelihood, governance, and peacebuilding. Our approach is aligned with our mission to enhance service delivery and empower citizens, through our humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding nexus (HDP).

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Media Consultant

Locations: Mubi, Michika and Madagali – Adamawa
Employment Type: Contract

Project Overview

  • Through an integrated mine action and gender-transformative protection response, the Enhancing the protective environment of conflict-affected communities in Adamawa state through women-led mine action and GBV prevention project will enhance the protective environment of vulnerable communities, especially vulnerable women and girls, affected by mine-related incidents. Based on the assumption that strengthening the female protective environment passes both by enhancing their inclusion in key community initiatives and addressing their specific protection risks,. Danish Refugee Council (DRC) and Centre for Advocacy, Transparency, and Accountability (CATAI) will pull together their specific expertise to:
  • Strengthen female leadership in key prevention initiatives related to mine incidents and Gender-Based Violence (GBV)
  • Provide a community-based protection response that directly prevents and mitigates mine action and Gender-Based Violence (GBV) risks, to which women and girls are particularly exposed.
  • Through this effort, CATAI will leverage its communication expertise to enhance the impact of Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Explosive Ordnance Risk Education (EORE) messaging by implementing radio programs. These programs will focus on disseminating crucial messages regarding EORE incidents and risks, as well as other specific protection concerns like GBV. Presented in local languages, namely Hausa, Higgi, Fulfulde, and Marghi, this content will not only serve to disseminate vital information but also to promote awareness of available community-level services that can aid in preventing or mitigating exposure to mine incidents or GBV risks. CATAI aims to produce an average of 12 radio jingles per month, ultimately reaching a total audience of 20,000 individuals through this initiative. This initiative is expected to span 11 months.
  • The consultant will collaborate with CATAI to develop monthly radio jingles in four languages aimed at creating awareness, sensitization and disseminating key messages on mine action and GBV prevention. The consultant will work closely with the CATAI team to ensure that the content of the radio jingles is relevant, culturally sensitive, and impactful.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate withCATAI team to understand project objectives, target audience, and key messages.
  • Research and gather information on mine action and GBV prevention to inform the content of the radio jingles.
  • Develop scripts for radio jingles in consultation with the CATAI team.
  • Incorporate feedback and revisions into the radio jingles as required.
  • Ensure that the radio jingles are culturally appropriate and sensitive to the local context.
  • Translate and produce radio jingles in Hausa, Fulfude, Higi, and Margi languages in audio format.
  • Submit final versions of approved radio jingles in audio format to the CATAI team for dissemination.

Timeline:

  • The consultant is expected to develop and produce the jingles every quarter, whereby delivering 4 approved radio jingles in each of the languages every month can be accepted

Deliverables:

  • Develop and produce a total of 132 jingles, 33 per language in MP3 format.
  • Develop 55- to 60-second radio jingles on causes, effects and ways to mitigate mine action activities and increase GBV prevention measures.
  • Produce and submit approved radio jingles in four different languages (Hausa, Fulfude, Higgi, and Marghi) each month.
  • Ensure that the content of the radio jingles is informed by field engagements, feedback, and identified concerns from the community

Qualifications

  • Experience in media production, particularly radio programming and jingle development.
  • Knowledge of mine action and GBV prevention issues.
  • Proficiency in Hausa, Fulfude, Higi, and Margi languages.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and writing skills.

Budget:

  • The consultant will provide a quotation indicating the cost for each jingle, which will be negotiated based on experience, qualifications, and the scope of work. Travel and accommodation expenses will not be covered.

Evaluation Criteria:

  • Experience and expertise in media production and content development.
  • Understanding of mine action and GBV prevention issues.
  • Proficiency in relevant languages.
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deliver high-quality work.
  • Demonstrated the ability to work collaboratively with partners and stakeholders.
