Description
- The Mechanical Technician is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and servicing of mechanical systems and equipment within the pelletizing plant.
- This role supports plant operations by ensuring equipment reliability, minimizing downtime, and contributing to safe and efficient production.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform routine and preventive maintenance on pellet plant machinery such as indurators, balling discs, conveyors, screens, pumps, fans, and gearboxes.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out corrective repairs to reduce plant downtime.
- Inspect mechanical systems and components to identify hazards, defects, or the need for adjustment or repair.
- Assist in the installation, commissioning, and overhaul of mechanical equipment and systems.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs and report mechanical issues promptly.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and plant operational standards during all tasks.
- Work closely with operations, electrical, and instrumentation teams to coordinate maintenance activities.
- Participate in shutdown maintenance and turnarounds, ensuring tasks are completed within time and quality standards.
- Maintain housekeeping in the maintenance workshop and around equipment.
Qualifications and Skills
- Technical Diploma or Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or Industrial Maintenance.
- Minimum 2 – 4 years of relevant experience in mechanical maintenance, preferably in a pellet plant or similar heavy industrial environment.
- Hands-on experience with mechanical systems, hydraulic and pneumatic systems, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and work orders.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance practices and condition monitoring tools.
- Strong understanding of safety practices in heavy industry environments.
- Basic computer skills and familiarity with maintenance management systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo) is an advantage.
- Good communication, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
