Job Title: Warehouse Officer
Location: Maiduguri, Nigeria
General Context of the Job/Project:
The Warehouse Officer plays a critical role in managing SHO’s rented warehouse in line with the organization’s Warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). This position is responsible for overseeing inventory control, warehouse facilities management, and ensuring efficient warehouse processes and operations.
Tasks and Responsibilities:
- Manage SHO’s rented warehouse in accordance with SHO’s Warehouse SOPs, ensuring compliance with established procedures and guidelines.
- Serve as the Inventory Controller, responsible for maintaining accurate records of all incoming and outgoing inventory, conducting regular stock counts, and reconciling discrepancies.
- Plan and implement warehouse processes, operations, and technology to optimize efficiency and productivity.
- Ensure the proper receipt, storage, and issuance of goods, materials, and equipment, adhering to quality standards and safety protocols.
- Oversee warehouse facilities management, including maintenance, cleanliness, security, and compliance with health and safety regulations.
- Coordinate with procurement and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of goods and materials to the warehouse and proper documentation of receipts.
- Collaborate with program teams to forecast inventory needs, monitor stock levels, and prevent stockouts or overstocking.
- Implement inventory control measures to minimize loss, damage, and theft of warehouse items.
- Supervise warehouse staff, providing training, guidance, and performance feedback as needed.
- Prepare regular reports on warehouse operations, including inventory levels, stock movements, and facility maintenance activities.
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business Administration, or a related field. Relevant certifications may be advantageous.
- Previous experience in warehouse management, inventory control, or logistics operations, preferably within the humanitarian or development sector.
- Strong understanding of warehouse operations, including receipt, storage, and distribution processes, as well as inventory management principles and practices.
- Familiarity with Warehouse Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and best practices in warehouse management.
- Proficiency in inventory management software and Microsoft Office applications.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented setting.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping, documentation, and reporting.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
