JDPC is inviting suitably qualified candidates to apply for the MEAL Assistant position for the DRIVE Program in Maiduguri, Jere LGA. Candidates must be prepared to start work immediately.
Position Overview
Under the guidance of the DRIVE Program Manager-MEAL, the MEAL Assistant will be responsible for supporting all Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL) activities. This includes tracking project performance, assisting in data collection, managing beneficiary databases, and implementing accountability mechanisms. The MEAL Assistant will report directly to the DRIVE Program Manager-MEAL for technical support and the JDPC Program Manager for administrative support.

Duration: 12 months (with possible extension based on performance)

Key Responsibilities
- Track project performance and monitor progress against project indicators.
- Assist in regular monitoring exercises, such as Onsite Monitoring, Post Distribution Surveys, and Focus Group Discussions.
- Collect both quantitative and qualitative data on project activities.
- Ensure proper documentation and filing of MEAL & Program documents.
- Complete MEAL checklists for each activity and prepare daily field visit reports.
- Support beneficiary registration exercises and conduct spot-check visits.
- Participate in MEAL-related training activities and learning exercises.
- Collect market price monitoring data regularly.
- Review and test M&E tools.
- Assist with the maintenance of IT equipment and support the development of electronic data entry questionnaires using Commcare or similar software.
- Support the training of enumerators and community mobilizers on data collection and device usage.
- Raise procurement requisitions for project activities.
- Submit assessment, monitoring, and evaluation reports on time.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree or HND in Social Sciences, Information and Technology Management, Statistics, or any relevant field.
- At least 1 year of full-time experience in Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability, and Learning (MEAL), preferably with an international NGO.
- Strong knowledge and proficiency in information and communication technology tools.
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Knowledge of confidentiality and data protection practices.
- Demonstrated commitment to gender-responsive and dignified programming.
- Experience working with software and hardware used in MEAL.
