Concern for Women and Children Development Foundation (COWACDI) is a woman- led organization born out of passion for the wellbeing of Women and Children in Nigeria. It has special interest in mitigating the suffering of the vulnerable persons (mostly Women & Children) in times of crisis. Currently the organization has focused its attention on the North East of Nigeria with special emphasis in Borno, Yobe and Adamawa states (the BAY states) due to the decade old crises. COWACDI intervenes through community-based approach in addressing Gender-Based Violence prevention and response programmes, child protection, peace-building programmes and empowerment of youth and women. COWACDI operates with full respect for humanitarian law and works with concrete policies and principles of international standard such as humanity, impartiality, neutrality and independence and accountability to affected population.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

COWACDI is seeking a qualified and highly motivated individual who can ensure that COWACDI’s programs maximize community participation and capabilities. The Monitoring, Evaluation, Accountability and Learning (MEAL) Officer will support the MEAL department in development of effective systems to analyze trends, monitor and evaluate programming. The MEAL Officer will raise initiatives among all departments to ensure high quality of COWACDI’s programs implementation.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • The MEAL officer will be working in close collaboration with the MEAL team and with the program teams. S/he will be responsible to support in various tasks including the following activities; data entry, database review, data cleaning, documentation & archiving, coding tools and reports translation.
  • Develop and/or update M&E tools, databases and monthly reporting formats in close collaboration with the MEAL team/Project Officers.
  • Conduct data audits and analysis to ensure high quality data, compile a report with relevant indicator data per grant, showing targets versus actuals and an action plan and send this to the Executive Director and Technical Managers on a monthly basis.
  • Advise staff on data management and storage to field staff, in collaboration with the Executive Director.
  • Ensure relevant, timely, and quality support to the field team on assessments and evaluations;

i.e. support in developing the survey tools, data analysis and report writing.

  • Attend and participate in meetings with the Executive Director, Program Manager and Officers on project monitoring and learning updates, achievements, challenges.
  • Provide documentation and dissemination of key findings stemming from monitoring, assessment, and other learning activities.
  • Track and ensure organized, comprehensive filing of documented findings/analyses.
  • Support Program planning processes and contribute to ensuring adherence to quality standards.
  • Support the development of logical frameworks and MEAL plans in project proposals.
  • Support MEAL and project staff in timely development and implementation of monitoring framework and tools.
  • Keep up-to-date feedback files of beneficiaries’ feedback and complaints.
  • Translation of data to the required language of the reports.
  • Work with the MEAL team, briefing them on upcoming activities, methodologies, and research tools for MEAL activities.
  • Coordinate with other departments especially with the programs team to ensure all potential data collection needs are addressed.
  • Respect and apply all the PSEA principles and show high commitment to report any SEA action      Coach and train others

Qualifications:

  • At least two years’ work experience in the humanitarian sector is preferred.
  • At least one-year work experience in M&E preferred.
  • Database operation highly is preferred            Proficiency in excel and word  Good computer skills.
  • The ability to use statistical programs and analyze data, draw conclusions, and have high skills in reporting.
  • Fluency in written and oral English

Safeguarding:

The position holder is required to commit to COWACDI’s safeguarding policy, as we will do rigorous background checks to ensure that children are protected from any kind of abuse.

The position holder is also required to carry out his duties in accordance with COWACDI’s antiharassment policy.

COWACDI is an organization working with vulnerable populations, including children both directly or indirectly, thus, COWACDI has a moral responsibility and a duty to protect children within the population that we serve from both intentional and unintentional harm. COWACDI understands that all staff needs to be aware of this policy even though many staff may never have unaccompanied contact with children or young people through their work. It is not possible to eliminate risk entirely, but we are obliged to develop strategies and mechanisms to reduce the risk.

To the end of meeting the fundamental values of COWACDI, this policy is designed to address the behavior of COWACDI staff and its collaborators towards the served population and to protect vulnerable populations within the communities served by COWACDI from any acts of sexual exploitation and abuse which is considered as an element of the accountability that COWACDI holds towards the served communities.
