Background:
Center for Advocacy, Transparency, and Accountability Initiative (CATAI), founded in 2018, is a registered NGO with a head office in Maiduguri, Borno State, with offices across Yobe and Adamawa states. We have been visible in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe states implementing projects in education, protection (child/GBV), WaSH, nutrition, empowerment/livelihood, governance, and peacebuilding.
Our approach is aligned with our mission to enhance service delivery and empower citizens through our humanitarian, development, and peacebuilding nexus (HDP). CATAI is dedicated to enhancing service delivery through citizen empowerment. Its mission is to promote a just society across all regions in Nigeria through advocacy, research, impact, and innovation, focusing on institutional reforms, capacity building, and citizen empowerment. By creating platforms for dialogue, enabling informed debates, and building citizen capacity, CATAI strengthens local communities, allowing individuals to act as catalysts for addressing societal issues. The organization is committed to advocating for and promoting quality education, particularly for girls in marginalized communities, and utilizing technological means to enhance children’s productivity through knowledge acquisition.
CATAI provides marginalized and vulnerable communities with resources to amplify their voices independently and with integrity. It also promotes social, economic, and environmental progress to enhance democratic governance, citizen participation, and civic engagement.
Project Background
The recent devastating floods in Maiduguri have triggered a severe humanitarian crisis, affecting more than 239,000 individuals. The comprehensive Rapid Needs Assessment Report underscores the critical demand for urgent provision of sanitation and hygiene services, access to clean drinking water, temporary shelter solutions, and essential medical support. CATAI, supported by the Rapid Response Fund (RRF) and the Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) in collaboration with the NRC, is actively engaged in a timely project in MMC to address the flood aftermath. The project, encompassing a 3-month duration funded by RRF focusing on WASH and MPCA and a 6-month initiative supported by NHF in consortium with NRC targeting WASH, lays the groundwork for immediate action. In light of these initiatives.

Hygiene Promotion Assistants:

Job Summary: To identify gaps in terms of hygiene, sanitation, and water consumption, the hygiene assistants will;
Job Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of training modules for the promotion of hygiene practices at homes in camps and communities, as well as in-home visits and community visits (schools, health institutions, etc.)
- Assist communities and health facilities in implementing safe hygiene practices by planning emergency hygiene promotion awareness-raising programs and encouraging the installation of latrines, hand washing stations, and clean environments
- To identify gaps in terms of hygiene, sanitation, and water consumption, the hygiene assistants will;

Qualification:
- Minimum of National Diploma in Public Health or Health related field
- Motivated, open, creative, mature, responsible, adaptable, and, culturally sensitive
- Willing and able to be based and travel often within remote areas, where services are limited
- Proficiency in English, Hausa and Kanuri is an added advantage.
- Dedication to the mission, values, and policies of CATAI Vision
- Thorough understanding of the intervention region or areas and the local economy
- Prior experience working with CATAI.
