The scope of work (SOW) sets forth the services to be provided by the Finance Specialist to Technical Advice Connect LTD/GTE (TAConnect), a non-profit organization registered and based in Nigeria, with the mandate to strengthen health system and quality of service delivery.
TAConnect is implementing a multi-year maternal and newborn health system strengthening project in Borno and Gombe States, with the goal of reducing maternal and newborn mortality. The program focuses on strengthening health facilities’ capacity to provide quality Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care (EmONC), improving demand and access to skilled delivery, deploying digital and interoperable systems for data-driven decision-making.
Job Description
The HR Associate will support the implementation of HR policies, systems, and processes to ensure effective human resource management at TAConnect. S/he will provide administrative and operational support in the areas of recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, records management, benefits administration, and compliance with organizational and donor requirements. He/She will also ensure adherence to TAConnects’ policies and donor regulations in the states.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions):
- Support end-to-end recruitment processes, including job postings, application tracking, shortlisting, scheduling interviews, and reference checks.
- Assist in coordinating the onboarding process for new hires, ensuring smooth orientation and integration.
- Maintain up-to-date personnel files, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality.
- Track staff contracts, probation periods, leave balances, and performance review schedules.
- Support in preparing HR-related correspondence such as contracts, confirmation letters, and memos.
- Serve as the first point of contact for staff HR-related inquiries, escalating issues to the HR & Operations Specialist as needed.
- Support initiatives that promote staff engagement, wellness, and team cohesion.
- Ensure compliance with workplace policies, code of conduct, and grievance procedures.
- Support payroll preparation by providing accurate employee data (leaves, absences, overtime, allowances).
- Assist in administering staff benefits including health insurance, pensions, and other welfare provisions.
- Ensure adherence to Nigerian labor laws, donor requirements, and TAConnect’s HR policies.
- Assist in preparing periodic HR reports (staffing updates, recruitment status, leave reports) for management.
- Support HR audits and compliance reviews.
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources Management, Business Administration, Social Sciences, or a related field. A HR Certification will be added advantage.
- Minimum of 2 years of relevant HR experience, preferably with NGOs or donor-funded projects.
- Knowledge of Nigerian labor laws and HR best practices.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of HRIS is an advantage.
Supervision
The HR Associate will report directly to the HR & Operations Specialist.
Working Conditions/Duration of Assignment
This is a full-time position, based in Abuja, Nigeria.
