Livelihood Assistant At Hope And Rural Aid Foundation (HARAF)

Job Summary:
The Livelihood Assistant will support the implementation of livelihood projects aimed at improving the economic conditions of target communities. This role involves working closely with beneficiaries, providing them with the necessary skills, resources, and support to develop sustainable income-generating activities. The Livelihood Assistant will also assist in monitoring and evaluating the progress of these initiatives.

Location: Maiduguri, Borno State
Job Type: One (1) year contract

Key Responsibilities:

  • Together with the livelihood Officers, the Assistants will be responsible for the implementation of livelihoods activities in the field 
  • Participant in data collection for project monitoring and evaluation.
  • Coordinate and implement livelihood activities according to strategy, proposals, budgets, and plans.
  • Coordinate with relevant partners working in the same implementation areas.
  • Facilitate the distribution of project materials and equipment according to procedures.
  • Compliance and adherence to HARAF policies, guidance and procedures
  • Prepare weekly progress reports and other documents as required.
  • Supervise, train and develop team of good community facilitators, community volunteers, and survey enumerators.
  • Conduct regular follow-ups with beneficiaries to monitor their progress and provide additional support as needed.
  • Conduct livelihoods assessments to determine most viable income generating activities.
  • Support stakeholder and partners in training on project participant.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders and partners in training of project participant 
  • Assist with the implementation of the support function portfolio according to plan of action.
  • Prepare and develop status reports as required by management.
  • Ensure proper filing of documents.
  • Supervise distribution of materials and equipment are timely and accordance with the procedures.
  • Involve and inform communities and community leaders about the activities, aim and objective.
  • Explore and facilitate introduction of new technology, method and approaches in order to improve the quality of the activities.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Livelihood Officer or Project Coordinator.

Qualification/professional competencies:

  • BSC, HND in Agriculture, Agric Engineering, Economics, Social Sciences or related.
  • A minimum of one year in a related position is required.
  • Work experience from Northeast State context is preferred.
  • Experience in project participant skills training and distribution of business startup kits.
  • Knowledge of the context in NE state.
  • Ability to work under pressure, independently and with limited supervision.
  • Maintain high standard of ethics and integrity.
  • Communicating with respects.
  • Candidates from Northeast State preferred.

Additional Requirements:

  • Willingness to travel by any means of transportation available as needed to capture photographs and success stories.
  • Flexibility to work outside regular office hours when necessary.
