HR & Admin Officer At CARE BEST INITIATIVE (CBI) – Mobbar LGA, Borno state

CARE BEST INITIATIVE (CBI) is a growing woman-led National Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) founded in 2019 and presently operational in the BAY states within the North-East. Our actions are to save lives, alleviate the suffering of children, women and other vulnerable people; and to maintain human dignity during and in the after math of man–made crises and natural disasters; as well as to prevent and strengthen preparedness for the occurrence of such situation; and to promote the right of children, women and vulnerable people in the society. CBI is partnering with Nigeria Humanitarian Fund (NHF) to improve access to the prevention and treatment services of acute malnutrition among children, pregnant and breastfeeding women; and reduce morbidity and mortality among these vulnerable groups. ROLE

Reporting to the Head of Operations, the HR and Admin Officer is responsible for the employee life cycle management of staff in the Nigeria office. He/she will work in close collaboration with the global HR team ensuring compliance with local and global HR policies and the deployment of global HR initiatives and assist in day-to-day office operations. This role is offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of 10 months, subject to funding, and is based in Borno, Nigeria.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Maintaining physical and digital personnel records like employment contracts and PTO requests
  • Update internal databases with new hire information
  • Create and distribute guidelines and FAQ documents about company policies
  • Gather payroll data like bank accounts and working days
  • Publish and remove job ads
  • Schedule job interviews and contact candidates as needed
  • Prepare reports and presentations on HR-related metrics like total number of hires by department
  • Develop training and onboarding material
  • Respond to employees’ questions about benefits (for example, number of vacation days they’re eligible for)

REQUIREMENTS

  • Work experience as an HR & Admin Officer, HR Administrative Assistant or similar role
  • Familiarity with Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS)
  • Basic knowledge of labor legislation
  • Experience using spreadsheets
  • Organizational skills
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • BSc in Human Resources Management or relevant field
  • Ability to speak Hausa, Kanuri and English
