Community Volunteer – GBV Protection: He/She will be responsible for the implementation of community education/awareness and socio-economic counselling and designing of Community base interventions. Below are the responsibilities:

  • Routinely monitor, identify, and report (on daily basis) any GBV concerns in the Community – including possible GBV risks, issues in households and Communities that can possibly cause or trigger GBV and monitor/report potential surge in specific GBV incidences and/or areas where women and girls are prone to GBV in the community and report the same to FHI360 Assistant Protection or Case Management officers.
  • Disseminate information on the following key themes:  GBV, types of GBV, consequences of GBV, services available, non-stigmatization and guiding principles of GBV prevention, mitigation, and response.
  • Identify and in a confidential manner, refer survivors of GBV to the Safe Space for Case Management services. This will be done in close collaboration and consultation with and/or by the case management officers.
  • Upon request from the case management officer and with the informed consent/ascent from the survivor, discretely conduct follow-up session for survivors while ensuring safety and confidentiality for the survivor.
  • Assist in the implementation of GBV related activities at the Safe Space on a rotational basis (two Volunteers per week) as agreed by FHI 360 Field Coordinator, Assistant Technical Officer Protection and Assistant Technical Officer Case Management.
  • Coordinate and maintain communication with WASH, Health and Nutrition sectors and any FHI 360 staff in the Community in case of any WASH, Health, Nutrition related problems are identified in the community.
  • Provide weekly reports on GBV activities to the Assistant Technical Officer or Assistant Technical Officer Case management each Friday, stating the number of people reached, number of people identified and referred to the Safe Space and/or to other service providers for services (with information desegregated by age and sex as stipulated in the weekly data collection forms).

Minimum Recruitment Standards: 

  • Candidate must be above the age of 18 years
  • Candidate must be an indigene and based in Bama LGA.
  • Candidate must have the ability to read and write in English.
  • Candidate must have ability to perform outreach and community awareness activities 
  • Candidate must have the ability to speak and translate one of the indigenous language (kanuri, shuwa, Hausa, Fulani, Mandara etc.) to Hausa or English
