Maryland Global Initiatives Corporation (MGIC) is a non-profit affiliate of UMB with a mission to administratively support international operations of UMB Principal Investigators. Our purpose is to provide the administrative infrastructure for sizable and sustained operations outside of the U.S. Currently, MGIC operates in Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, Tanzania, and Zambia, with registration application in-process in Haiti. These operations support the research and clinical programs of the SOM, Institute of Human Virology.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Follow-up Clinician

Locations: Abuja (FCT) , Bauchi, Edo, Enugu, Kaduna and Lagos
Employment Type: Contract

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Conduct both phone and physical interviews and ensure all data collected are done with utmost quality; valid, complete, and correct.
  • Have knowledge of COVID-19, the vaccine, and its brands.
  • Follow-up with persons who have been previously enrolled.
  • Enter participants’information via calls into the follow-up platform.
  • Document details of lost-to-follow-up individual where necessary.
  • Understand and carry out the processes involved in the follow-up activities.
  • Assure confidentiality of survey participants’ information.
  • Maintain environmental integrity and aesthetics ensuring all areas are safe and clean.
  • Document all activities inappropriate documentation tools and devices.
  • Inform participants by explaining the questions, answering raised questions during follow-up interviews.
  • Maintain communication and reporting line by escalating problems to supervisor.
  • Update job knowledge by studying and understanding descriptions; participating in educational opportunities.
  • Accomplish organization mission by completing relevant reports as needed.
  • Manage filing, mailing, correspondence, and other management tasks.

Mode of Evaluation

  • Daily Reports/Weekly/Monthly reports
  • Individual daily report.
  • Collated weekly report.
  • End of the month report.

Qualifications
Experience, Skills & Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • University graduate of Medicine and Surgery or Pharmacy.
  • Minimum Two (2) years of experience in clinical management-related diseases in adults
  • Minimum two (2) years of experience working on international public health projects and providing clinical /technical support either in the headquarters of an international organization or in resource-limited settings for adults/pediatrics.
  • Call-center experience will be an added advantage.
  • Excellent use of data collection tools.
  • Excellent grasp of clinical issues and current literature related to infection, prevention, and control of COVID-19.
  • Excellent understanding of public health approach to scaling up the intake of COVID-19 vaccines.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and quantitative skills including the development of measurable objectives, operational plans, and measurable indicators/targets for public health programs and projects.
  • Demonstrated capability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with donors, implementing partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated and successful experience managing multiple priorities and projects while working as a part of a technical assistance team, as well as working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Fluency in English (speaking, reading, and writing)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (e.g., Outlook, Excel, Word, etc.)
