Our flagship Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programme incorporates innovative, renewable, and circular technologies to tackle critical challenges facing underserved communities. We are currently implementing a WASH project (Project AIM-Epe) in Isale Agoro community, Epe, Lagos, Nigeria. A project designed to provide access to safe and clean water to residents of the community
About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated Field Officer, who will support the implementation of Project AIM-Epe by coordinating field activities, engaging community stakeholders and contractors, and supporting the delivery, monitoring and documentation of community-based WASH and environmental sustainability interventions in Isale Agoro, Epe, Lagos, Nigeria.
Key Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Programs, the Field Officer (Project AIM-Epe) will:
- Represent Optimal Greening in Isale Agoro community, serving as the primary field contact for Project AIM-Epe and maintaining positive relationships with community stakeholders.
- Coordinate and support the day-to-day implementation of project activities in line with approved Project AIM-Epe work plans, timelines and project objectives.
- Liaise with community leaders, volunteers, contractors, government representatives and other stakeholders to facilitate smooth project delivery.
- Monitor field activities and contractor performance to ensure quality implementation and adherence to project standards.
- Conduct routine and frequent community visits, mobilization and sensitization activities to encourage participation and ownership of project interventions.
- Support baseline surveys, needs assessments, focus group discussions, advocacy visits and other field data collection activities.
- Support the planning and delivery of capacity-building sessions for community volunteers, local leaders, and beneficiary groups to strengthen project ownership and sustainability.
- Identify and promptly report field challenges, risks and community concerns, while supporting the implementation of appropriate mitigation measures.
- Collect, verify and maintain accurate field data, beneficiary records, attendance registers and other project documentation.
- Prepare timely field reports, activity updates and photographic documentation to support project monitoring and reporting.
- Ensure project activities are implemented in accordance with Optimal Greening’s policies, donor requirements and safeguarding, health, safety and environmental standards.
- Support the identification of opportunities to strengthen community engagement and enhance the sustainability of project outcomes.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Project Management, Environmental Science, Community Development, Engineering, Public Health, Social Sciences, Business Administration, or a related field.
- At least 1–2 years’ experience in a field-based role, preferably supporting WASH, environmental sustainability, or community development projects.
- Demonstrated experience in community engagement, project implementation and working effectively with diverse stakeholders in community settings.
- Must be resident in Epe LG or nearby communities and able to commute to the project site in Isale Agoro.
- Good understanding of the nonprofit sector, with experience working in or supporting environmental sustainability or community development programmes considered an
- Additional qualifications or certifications in project management, community development, or environmental conservation will be an added advantage.
