Data Operator at the MENTOR Initiative – 3 Openings

The MENTOR Initiative is a UK registered charitable, not-for-profit, non-governmental organization working globally torelieve human suffering from tropical diseases. With support from BHA, PUI and UNF The MENTOR Initiative is implementing Emergency Control of Malaria amongst high malarious areas in Borno state. The MENTOR Initiative works in close partnership with the MoH in Nigeria to build technical capacity and effective planning and responses to malaria and other VBDs.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Data Operator

Locations: (Maiduguri, Monguno and Jere) Borno
Reporting to: Senior Prevention Officer

Overall Job Purpose

  • To assist the NGO functioning in all prevention and VBD control Activities.

Expected Key Results:

  • Provide support to the Senior Prevention Officer for the achievement of the following results:
  • Training and capacity-building of M&E and Survey teams to implement impactful and successful VBD Campaigns.
  • To cross check all the field activities data with the prevention team and ensure the accurate data is computerized and to properly file all the hard copies of the program data
  • Proper documentation of various project activities including timely reporting and dissemination.
  • Maintaining fruitful coordination between The MENTOR Initiative and important stakeholders in the project areas

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Timely collection of all the program data from the prevention team on daily basis and to properly cross check tor accuracy and to ensure that the accurate data is computerized.
  • Support the Field Manage and Senior Prevention Officer in preparation and print out the various data monitoring tools- IRS and entomological activities collection tools.
  • Organize data collection of all project related data (all aspects of projects, including operational research).
  • Participate in data collection from the field.
  • In close coordination with the Prevention Officers and Field Manager verify quality of the data in terms of accuracy and key information capturing.
  • Organize all data files (soft and hard) in an organized and understandable manner.
  • Ensure completeness and timeliness of databases for all activities assigned.
  • In coordination with the prevention team conduct routine data verification and cleaning of data sets.
  • Ensure all data are managed with confidentiality and make sure all data within domain remain protected.
  • Participate in database and procedure design.
  • Conduct field visits for matters that need onsite field data verification.
  • Timely provision of data for internal and external reports.
  • Other activities / duties as agreed upon by the Field Manager/Field Senior Prevention Officer

Requirements

  • Higher Secondary School Certificate.
  • 2 to 3 years of Previous NGO and/or work experience related to data entry and compilation.
  • Able to work as part of an established team with excellent communication skills, team builder, flexible, adaptable.
  • Good computer skills
  • Conduct all activities in honest and trustworthy manner in the best interest of The MENTOR Initiative and the target community.
