Background
The GEF Consortium, led by TRAHI, is dedicated to promoting inclusive healthcare that meets the needs
of marginalized groups, including trans-women, LBQ women, female sex workers, and other vulnerable
communities. Despite existing healthcare programs, stigma, discrimination, and cultural insensitivity
within healthcare systems hinder equitable access to essential services for these groups. To address this
challenge, we are seeking a qualified consultant to design a comprehensive Inclusive Health Training
(IHT) curriculum that equips primary healthcare workers with the skills and knowledge necessary to
provide non-discriminatory, culturally sensitive care. This training will enhance healthcare workers’
ability to address the unique needs of diverse populations and foster a more inclusive healthcare
environment in Lagos and Ogun States.
Scope of Work
The consultant will:
- Develop an IHT curriculum that covers the following core areas:
- Gender sensitivity and inclusivity in healthcare
- HIV, TB, and Malaria prevention and treatment tailored for marginalized groups
- Strategies to reduce stigma and discrimination in healthcare settings
- Cultural competence and respectful care for trans-women, LBQ women, and female sex workers
- Legal and ethical frameworks for non-discriminatory healthcare practices
- Collaborate with stakeholders, including healthcare professionals and community representatives, to
ensure the curriculum reflects local realities and needs. - Create training materials and resources, including manuals, presentations, and case studies.
- Pilot the curriculum through a test session and integrate feedback to refine content.
- Provide a final report and implementation plan to ensure the smooth rollout of the curriculum across
Lagos and Ogun States.
Deliverables
- Comprehensive IHT Curriculum with modules and learning objectives
- Training Materials including participant manuals, facilitator guides, and presentations
- Pilot Test Report summarizing feedback and curriculum improvements
- Implementation Plan for the roll-out of the IHT training in collaboration with healthcare facilities
- Presentation of Findings at a stakeholder engagement session
Key Qualifications - Advanced degree in Public Health, Education, or Social Sciences
- Proven experience in curriculum design and training development, especially in health or
gender-related fields - Knowledge of inclusive healthcare practices and challenges in Nigeria
- Experience working with marginalized populations and healthcare workers
- Strong facilitation and stakeholder engagement skills
- Excellent communication and report-writing abilities
Timeline
The consultancy is expected to start in November 2024 and conclude by December 2024.
