Context
Médecins Sans Frontières is a private, not-for-profit international humanitarian organization dedicated to providing medical assistance to populations in distress, without discrimination and regardless of race, religion, creed or political affiliation.
MSF has been active in Katsina since February 2021 after carrying an exploratory mission that end up with an opening of the project under the Emergency-Cell.
Currently, MSF is running an ITFC (Inpatient Therapeutic Feeding Centre) in Katsina in the Kofar Sauri PHCC and Turai Yar’Adua Hospital and 8 ATFC (Ambulatory Therapeutic Feeding Centre) including four in Jibia LGA (Magama, Daddara, Gubi Magaria, Riko, Mashi, Majigiri and Sonkaya) and one in Katsina City (Kofar Marusa).
Main Purpose
Prepare, provide, and present health education sessions to the population/patients according MSF principles and values to promote health information through health measures and hygiene conditions as well as provide information about MSF activities to facilitate access to healthcare
Job Description
- Prepare material and deliver health education sessions, messages and topics addressed to different populations regarding hygiene, diseases, and prevention.
- Ensure all the patients and caretakers are well informed, according to protocols, about health- related issues and services provided.
- Monitor health situation and living conditions of the population by conducting nutritional screening, collecting information related to food security, checking vaccination status of children, looking actively for any defaulters in programs that require this type of research, collecting information on number of people arriving or leaving the community, births and deaths in the community, etc.
- Identify people with medical problems, contact with medical team and report for immediate transfer if needed. He/she has to inform to the line manager about any problem encountered (population, equipment, material…).
- Conduct Daily Health education sessions within the facility in ATFC and ITFC o Collect, review and share data weekly in the data collection tool for action by the direct supervisor/Manager o Follow up Absentees and Defaulters via phone call and refer back to care in ATFC o Report to line manager of all results of screening and visits on a regular basis.
- Support the appetite test and other responsibility assigned within ATFCs.
- Collect Data/feedback including challenges, recommendations and submit to the line Manager/Supervisor for action and or decision making.
- Assess the IEC needs in the facility and share with the Supervisor/Line Manager for action.
- Provide the necessary patient support within the Health facility including information on the services offered for the patient to make informed decision especially in cases of admission.
- Demonstrate the use of RUTF and the benefits to the targeted beneficiary in order to achieve the desired results.
Performing any other task, specific to his/her area of specialty, as defined in his/her job description and according to the line manager.
Requirements
| Education | Diploma recognized in the country and /or the Ministry of Health to practice as such |

Contract
208 working hours per month and flexibility is required
