Community Engagement Assistant – Monitoring and Accountability (M&A) – Protection
Role Overview: The Community Engagement Assistant will play a critical role in outreach, data collection, and advocacy within the community. This position involves engaging with community members to gather feedback on WFP’s food assistance, raising awareness about protection issues, recording and escalating sensitive protection concerns and coordinating with local organizations to ensure comprehensive response services.

Key Responsibilities:
Community Outreach and Engagement:
- Conduct outreach activities to engage with community members, gather feedback on WFP’s food assistance, and raise awareness about protection issues and available response services.
- Implement feedback mechanisms for community members to report concerns and provide feedback on the assistance received.
- Advocate for community needs and represent community perspectives in protection discussions. Data Collection and Reporting:
- Collect, document, and report data on protection concerns, identifying trends to inform program strategies.
- Monitor and report protection concerns arising from WFP food assistance, including new population displacements and movements in operational areas.
- Document protection incidents including sensitive protection cases and prepare regular updates for stakeholders.
- Identify individual cases with protection concerns during household and community assessments for referral to internal services or specialized agencies.
Coordination and Collaboration:
- Coordinate with protection partners and local organizations to align efforts and refer individuals to appropriate services.
- Facilitate Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) among community members on selected topics to better understand the causes and consequences of identified risks.
- Support sensitization, information dissemination, and awareness-raising activities within the community.
Incident Reporting and Escalation:
- Report and escalate any serious protection incidents or immediate concerns identified within target communities to the Protection Coordinator.
- Record and escalate sensitive cases in the location to ensure timely and appropriate responses.
Qualifications and Experience:
Educational Background:
- A Diploma, NCE or B.Sc. in a related field is required.
Professional Experience:
- This is an entry-level position; training will be provided.
- Strong knowledge of the local communities is essential.
