Zenith of the Girl Child and Women Initiative Support is a leading girls and women’s rights organization, which promotes gender equality, reaching the most vulnerable, and promoting meaningful inclusion. The organization is a registered non-profit, non-governmental female/youth-led organization that aims to preventing and protecting women and girls against all forms of gender-based violence, abuse, and discrimination. Zenith of the Girl Child and Women Initiative Support advocates and influence policies in favor of women and girls. ZEGCAWIS create awareness and sensitize communities on the Sexual and reproductive Health rights, prevention of sexual and all forms of gender-based violence information and response services. ZEGCAWIS has been in existence since 2016, it became officially registered with cooperate affairs commission in Nigeria 2018.

We are looking for passionate, experienced and dedicated professionals for our G2L project in partnership with Care International (Care Nigeria) in Borno State 

JOB TITILE:  Clinical Assistant (G2L)  
CONTRACT DURATION: 12 months.  
LOCATION: MMC, JERE, KONDUGA  
PROJECT: G2L    
 

The Clinical Assistant will be responsible for supporting the mobile outreach teams and health providers for provision of quality clinical lifesaving sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services at both outreach points and static health facilities. She will also provide technical assistance and oversight to community based clinical and engagement activities to optimize quality and maximize the project’s reach to particularly vulnerable women and girls in the operational area. In particular, the incumbent will undertake the tasks outlined below

Report to SRHR/GBV Project Officer

Specific responsibilities and tasks:

  • Provide technical programmatic support to ensure quality implementation of comprehensive Sexual Reproductive Health activities with focus on Family Planning, Maternal Health, Post Abortion CARE and general health response
  • Develop a monthly work plan and movement plan for the mobile health outreach activities
  • Support capacity building for service providers through training and retraining on relevant areas
  • Develop, Training TOR, Budget, and Contract and Advance request guided by work plan, budget and liquidate expenses after training with support from the Project Officer
  • Provide on the job coaching and mentoring for clinical service providers
  • Strengthen local coordination meeting and attend LGA level coordination meeting on request by supervisor to advocate for Sexual Reproductive Health & Rights Services in the LGA
  • Support the establishment and effective delivery of SRHR outreach services in target communities
  • Initiate and ensure active referral system is available in health facilities with referral pathways clearly defined
  • Conduct regular supervision of mobile outreach service delivery activities.
  • Ensure that the service providers have the right commodity, consumables, medical supplies to make sure there is no stocks out at any point in time of LARC /PAC commodities
  • Ensure that effective IPC standards are observed in administering clinical services to clients
  • Lead the planning of mobile outreach activities together with the service providers with support of the SRHR/GBV Project Officer
  • Undertake routine monitoring and supervision of ongoing clinical and community awareness raising activities
  • Participate in monthly coordination meetings bringing together health providers, community facilitators, ZEGCAWIS staff and the LGA level Health authorities
  • Establish and use strong compliant and feedback systems to track and report compliant and feedback to support effective delivery of SRHR service 
  • Identify and document and dissemination of promising practices and appropriate success stories, experiences, best practice and lessons, at least one every 3 months
  • Encourage sharing of learning and experience with the team,
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Not limited only to:

  • Ability to willingly accept and take up additional responsibilities
  • Carry out any other duties and responsibilities which may be assigned by the management from time to time

QUALIFICATIONS

  • CHEW, Midwife and Registered Nurse
  • Post-graduate training in public health is an asset (University Degree)
  • DMU / SR Training, Family Planning and Post-Abortion Care is an asset
  • Training in project planning, monitoring and evaluation is an asset
  • 2-3 years’ experience in clinical practice
  • Previous experience in reproductive health is an asset
  • Previous experience in supporting health structures is an asset
  • Experience working with internally displaced and host populations in an international NGO is desirable.

 Knowledge and skills

  • Familiarity with the Borno State Reproductive Health landscape
  • Proficient in the use of computer: world, Excel, PowerPoint, internet
  • Ability to plan training sessions, provide formative supervision, monitoring and evaluation of medical activities
  • Ability to effectively engage and coordinate meetings with local stakeholders
  • Ability to write quality reports in English and submit them on time
  • Disciplined, organized, respect for deadlines, adaptation in a multicultural working environment, tolerance, respect for ZEGCAWIS’ core values and gender.
