Description

  • Our client, a non-profit Public and Private Partnership is looking to fill the role of a Chief of Communications, Engagement and Interventions.

Role Summary

  • The Chief of Communications, Engagement and Interventions will provide leadership and strategic direction to our client on communications, engagement and advocacy activities.
  • Working with the Board and government stakeholders, the CCEI will oversee the implementation of communication for development strategies, aimed at supporting our client’s goals and strengthening its fundraising and advocacy efforts using strategic communication as a tool for social development and impact.

Duties and Responsibilities
Communication:

  • Plan and manage press / media articles, events, scripts for films and animations, photo stories, branding materials, and technical and storytelling publications.
  • Planning and executing communication need assessments for projects, programme and change initiatives and ensuring that the findings are reflected in campaign and public advocacy strategies.
  • Developing digital media strategy to enhance external and internal communications, audience engagements and outreach through website, social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, etc.), Intranet and on-line collaboration platforms
  • Transform public visibility and strengthen profile , enhancing existing internal & external communications with the public, government, partners and the international community.
  • Support the implementation of a successful fundraising strategy to support project development needs and widen the opportunity to secure funds
  • Lead all stages of advocacy and communications strategies, provide responsible communications underpinned by the principles of openness, transparency
  • Leverage data and insights to develop and implement stakeholder / target audience communications and engagement plans that support strategic goals
  • Develop and implement both reactive and proactive communications strategies, plans and rapid response support to the CEO and the Board.

Engagement:

  • Ensuring strategic and increased media engagements to promote projects and interventions through media interviews, op-eds, feature articles, media partnerships, in collaboration with partners, Government and donors.
  • Build effective relationships with national and international stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, donors and others.
  • Planning and hosting roundtable discussions, press conferences, briefing sessions, interviews, launch events, on priority areas to promote public and media discourses.
  • Oversee and proactively manages reputation in the areas of Public / Community Relations, Marketing, Internal and External affairs, and Internal and External Communications strategies including Social Media.
  • Cultivate meaningful relationships with targeted, high-level external audiences and media including the traditional and nontraditional media, key influencers, government officials and other audiences.
  • Establishes collaborative initiatives with multiple departments

Intervention:

  • Conduct ongoing research in the development of new and modifications of existing funding opportunities.
  • Identify need areas for social impact activities / intervention programmes, define strategy, develop action plans, identify deliverables, present results, measure programme outcomes.
  • Identifying and assessing potential issues, concerns and risks related to communications and advocacy, and suggesting corrective actions to Leadership.
  • Ensure high quality external communications documents, including sponsorship, marketing materials as required to promote and secure partnerships.

Requirements
Qualification and Requirement:

  • Master’s degree in media relations, journalism, publishing, public affairs or related fields.
  • Professional certifications and membership of relevant professional bodies
  • At least 14 years’ experience in a similar role with an NGO, Trust fund, International Foundation or donor development partners.
