Under the direct supervision of the direct supervision of the PRP Team Leader, the PRP Assistant Contributes to the implementation of the Physical Rehabilitation Project Field officer activities in accordance to agreed objectives and related strategies, particularly in relation to improved quality and capacity of prosthetics and orthotics (P&O) and wheelchair service provision. As a member of the physical rehabilitation multidisciplinary team, s/he contributes to the implementation of internal and international P&O standards, overall service provision standards and monitor the quality of the services provided (from registration of the service user to discharge). S/he will personally provide services to more complicated/complex cases.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

  • Contribute to financial monitoring of the costs involved in the project(s)/activities supported.
  • Assisting the mobile PRP team with diverse administrative task
  • Ensure proper management of information collected and produces the subsequent reports.
  • Participates in analysis of and reflection on the overall rehabilitation activities; contributes to realistic project proposals in line with the delegation´s objectives and priorities.
  • Help organize meetings; advises staff members on matters such as culture, politics, the economy, security, etc.
  • Interprets at meetings and translates documents into local languages.
  • Liaise and build networks with local stakeholders to facilitate communication on and coordination of activities, thereby ensuring more efficient implementation of the PRP. May represent the ICRC vis-à-vis beneficiaries, local authorities, humanitarian players, armed groups, etc.
  • Generate SRs for local purchase of materials and follow up with logistics.
  • Forward special material or maintenance requests using the correct format and procedure.  
  • Support the Log purchaser for the purchase of local material to ensure the needed quality is respected
  • Contribute to routine organisational reporting (SitRep, MAD etc)
  • Focal person between the PRC UMTH for the referred PWDs from ICRC sites in the North East, when PT FO is on holiday. • Manage PRP operational database (admission, food & laundry, transport, other expenses)
  • Record and follow-up of inpatients at the dormitory.
  • Monitor food services, including issuing of food vouchers
  • In cooperation with PRC Social Workers monitor dormitory equipment and material donation to patients
  • Coordinate with Disability focal FO on Social inclusion and career development activities for PwDs.
  • Contribute to financial monitoring of the costs involved in the project(s)/activities supported.
  • Financial responsibility regarding reimbursement related to the Prosthetics & Orthotics (P&O) program in PRC UMTH
  • Plan and manage the treasury (working advance) for the PRC UMTH under supervision of the mobile staff and ICRC Administration
  • Responsible for preparation and timely execution of the monthly accounting (including verification of bills)

Education and Experience Required

  • Degree or its equivalent in Social Sciences, Administration, Human Resources, Public Relations
  • 2 years cognate experience.  

Desired profile and Skills

  • Fluent in written and spoken English, Kanuri and Hausa languages
  • Good knowledge of the geographically assigned environment
  • Intermediate level in computer skills, including spread sheets
  • Skilled in the following competencies: representing the ICRC; communication with technical team leaders; adapting and learning.
  • Good in analysis & synthesis situation and information
  • Capacity to work independently
  • Should be persons living with physical disability
