ABOUT GHIV AFRICA

Global Village Healthcare Initiative for Africa (GHIV Africa) is a non-governmental, non-for-profit humanitarian/Developmental organization which started in 2014. We deliver assistance to affected populations before, during and after crisis situations.

GHIV Africa was founded to mitigate the health deficit in Africa and to provide all forms of assistance leading to improved quality of life. The organization is equally poised to support the delivery of healthcare services at the doorsteps of every African village by bridging the gap between primary health care delivery and tertiary health care services through a robust referral system.

GHIV Africa, with funding from UNICEF, is implementing a Rapid Response Mechanism (RRM) project to address the urgent Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) needs of internally displaced persons (IDPs) affected by recent windstorms in Bama LGA, Borno State, Northeast Nigeria. The project aims to mitigate health risks and enhance community resilience through targeted WASH interventions.

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Water Chlorinator to join our team in Bama. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safety of water sources through water quality assessments and chlorination, as well as distributing Aquatab to households. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in water treatment and a commitment to improving public health.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Conduct regular Water Quality (WQ) assessments to determine the safety of water sources
  2. Implement source chlorination to ensure water sources meet WHO standards
  3. Distribute Aqua tab to households in the community, ensuring equitable access to safe water
  4. Monitor and record water quality data, identifying areas for improvement
  5. Collaborate with the WASH team to ensure integrated implementation of WASH activities
  6. Provide technical support to community members on proper water treatment and handling practices

REQUIREMENTS

  1. Diploma or Certificate in Water Treatment, Public Health, or related field
  2. At least 1 year of experience in water treatment, preferably in a humanitarian setting
  3. Strong knowledge of water quality assessment and chlorination procedures
  4. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  6. Ability to ride a motorcycle (preferred)
  7. Fluency in local languages (mandatory)
