Our main model has three pillars:
● FIND. We create better market information by checking small businesses through verification surveys and publishing business profiles and searchable research reports.
● BUILD. We enhance the commercial and digital capacity of small businesses through training and advisory services, helping them compete in a global market.
● CONNECT. We improve market efficiency through tender distribution services, matching services, and events that allow small businesses to access new buyers, customers, and capital.
Since 2004, Building Markets has leveraged this model to make an impact in Afghanistan, Haiti, Jordan, Liberia, Mozambique, Myanmar, Timor-Leste, and Türkiye. We are positioned to scale our unique focus into new markets starting in 2023.
Building Markets has supported more than 26,700 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), has helped those companies raise $ 1.36 billion in new contracts and $ 21 million in loans, and has helped create more than 73,500 full-time equivalent jobs.
Purpose of the position
General description of the role, its relevance and its impact within the organization
The support officer will support the program’s operation in accordance with Building Markets’ policies, procedures, and contractual obligations. Under the supervision of the Administrative and Finance Director, the support officer will also lead the location of policies, tools and operational frameworks, to ensure that all operational and compliance requirements are met.
Main responsibilities
Main areas of responsibility, tasks, relationship with other teams, scope of decisions and expectations about the position.
Financial accounting
● Process local purchases and request for quotes.
● prepare a provider base for connection events.
● Make sure invoices comply with local regulations.
● Prepare all documentary media for the counter.
● Support the Chief Financial Officer and Administrative Officer to obtain information related to the costs of new grants.
Human Resources
● Support in the drafting and preparation of local contracts with suppliers.
● Make sure consultants bill their fees on time and that these invoices are correct.
● Support staff on other necessary requests.
● Support with calls to SMEs.
Procedures and operation
● Support in the implementation of the SAGRILAFT system.
● Support the F&A director with audits.
● Comply with the operational policies of Building Markets at the national level in Colombia, and
Parental policies.
● Anticipate, analyze and alert the management team to all risks related to
operational activities.
● Other tasks as needed and agreed with the management team.
