Independent Monitors At Breakthrough ACTION

Independent Monitors At Breakthrough ACTION

Background

The Johns Hopkins University Centre for Communication Programs (JHUCCP), Baltimore USA, has received USAID funding, under the Breakthrough ACTION Nigeria (BA-N) project, to implement health promotion and social and behavior change interventions in Nigeria from 2018-2025. This project works with the Federal and State Ministries of Health to build their capacity in social and behavior change communication leadership and implement cutting-edge social and behavioral interventions to improve the health and well-being of Nigerians across a broad array of health issues, including Maternal, Neonatal, Child Health and Nutrition (MNCH+N), Family Planning, Malaria, Tuberculosis, Covid 19 and zoonotic diseases such as Lassa Fever.  We are in almost all the states in Nigeria and Abuja FCT, spanning each of the major geographical zones in the country.

BA-N would be conducting media campaigns in the identified states, and they would be monitored by a contracted media monitoring firm in Lagos who has the technology to provide real time coverage across stations in each state. However, this service does not extend partially or fully to some of BA-N states: Ebonyi, Kebbi, Zamfara, Nasarawa, Bauchi, Plateau, Sokoto, Benue, Zamfara, Oyo, Bayelsa, Taraba and FCT. To cover this gap, independent monitors in those states would be contracted to provide monitoring for stations not covered by the monitoring firm.
