Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Identify and conduct joint pre-award assessment of potential sub recipients with the Central office team
  • Mentoring of Project Accountants in the preparation of financial report/technical report.
  • Review of all sub recipients reports and advance requests, facilitate sub recipients’ payments and monitor their advances from Central Office.
  • Ensure sub recipients compliance with terms, conditions and specifications of the sub award.
  • Monitor and manage issues of non-compliance.
  • Conduct quarterly asset verification exercise.
  • Conduct financial monitoring including site visit and review of financial reports and their supporting documents.
  • Ensure the correctness and accuracy of Certified Monthly Expenditure reports and Asset Register.
  • Assist in execution of new sub awards, amendments o existing sub awards and sub award close-outs.
  • Take appropriate action in case of re-current non-compliance with terms and conditions of the sub award.
  • Provide support in preparation of Sub recipient annual budget and budget amendment within the scope of funders policies and the organizations regulations.
  • Any other assignment given by management and supervisor.

Qualifications& Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance or in a related field with membership or part certification in professional association i.e. ICAN, ACCA or recognized equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years in financial management, accounting, and administration working experience with an international NGO working with USG funding is an added advantage.
  • Working knowledge of USG rules and regulation including HSS grant policy ,45 CFR 75, A122 other donor regulations and GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles)
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to be able to accept an discharge substantial responsibilities, to prioritize work assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Tally 9 ERP accounting software for reporting purposes and proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook and other computer-based applications
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills combined with the ability to work collaboratively with program staff and stakeholders across organizational boundaries
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, to be able to accept and discharge substantial responsibilities, to prioritize work assignments, to meet deadlines, and to exercise professional judgment.
