Job Title:  Storekeeper

Location: Sokoto, Katsina, Zamfara, Yobe, Taraba

Reports to: Program Manager

Job Summary

The Storekeeper coordinates warehousing practices and responsible for all stores management and inventory control system in the warehouse. (S)he oversees the maintenance and management of storerooms and warehouses. (S)he is also responsible for the logistics stock movements (reception and dispatch) and supervision of handling staff (daily workers).

Specific Responsibilities

  • Ensure all necessary records (physical inventory form, stack card, store ledger, daily stock report, etc.) are in place and up-to-date. 
  • Ensure the warehouse is well-maintained and secure; that goods are received and dispatched in a timely and professional manner.
  • Support the movement of commodities from warehouse(s) to distribution sites and ensure the hygiene and cleanliness of warehouse.
  • Manage responsibility for the supervision of loading and off-loading shipments – food commodities and other supplies.
  • Collect and archive all documents (e.g. waybills) linked to incoming goods with proper signatures.
  • Organize and manage casual workers and ensure they comply with warehouse and storage management policy.
  • Conduct stock counts and stock reconciliations on a regular basis.
  • Ensure that the warehouse is locked and has resources in place to prevent theft, flooding and/or fire.
  • Ensure that storage space is utilized to the best way possible that guarantees ventilation and workspace movement.
  • Verify and submit accurate and high-quality stock reports on daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly basis.
  • Conduct regular inspection of warehouses and report any repair/maintenance and fumigation needs to the supervisor.
  • Work jointly with security guards while fuelling the generators; and update immediately the fuel stock cards.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Minimum OND or HND in Logistics or Supply Chain Management, Material Engineering, Economics or Business Administration.
  • Minimum of two years’ experience in warehousing, supply chain management.
  • Knowledge of supply chain, logistics and warehousing management is a requirement.
  • NGO experience in humanitarian context preferred.
  • English is a must and knowledge of local language is an advantage.
  • Good report writing, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven basic computer skills in Microsoft office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access etc.) is a must.
