We are recruiting internally and externally for the position below:

Job Title: Security officer

Location: Borno/Yobe

Duration: 3 months (with possibility of extension)

Objective:

The Security Officer will be responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the organization’s premises, assets, staff, and visitors. This role involves implementing security measures, monitoring security systems, conducting patrols, and responding to security incidents.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Security Monitoring and Patrols:

  • Conduct regular patrols of the premises to detect and deter unauthorized access, vandalism, or safety hazards.
  • Monitor security cameras, alarm systems, and access control systems to ensure the safety of the premises.

2. Incident Response and Reporting:

  • Respond promptly to security incidents or emergencies, providing immediate intervention and reporting to relevant authorities as necessary.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and maintain a log of all security-related activities.

3. Access Control:

  • Manage access to the premises, ensuring that only authorized individuals enter the property.
  • Issue visitor passes and maintain records of visitors’ access.

4. Safety Protocols and Emergency Procedures:

  • Enforce safety protocols and emergency procedures among staff and visitors.
  • Conduct regular security drills, such as fire drills or evacuation exercises, to ensure preparedness in emergency situations.

5. Security Advice and Awareness:

  • Provide security advice and awareness training to staff and visitors to enhance their understanding of security precautions and procedures.
  • Stay informed about local security risks and advise management on potential security threats and improvements to security measures.

6. Liaison with Law Enforcement and Security Services:

  • Maintain a good working relationship with local law enforcement and other relevant security services.
  • Coordinate with external security providers for additional security support as needed.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; further training in security services is an advantage.
  • Proven experience as a security officer or in a similar security role.
  • Knowledge of security operations and procedures.
  • Familiarity with using security equipment and systems.
  • Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to act with integrity and professionalism.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical fitness and ability to respond effectively to emergencies.
  • Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable.
